What Is the Maximum Myopia That Contact Lens Can Correct?
Question by : What is the maximum myopia that contact lens can correct?
I have myopia of 725 degrees in both eyes. can contact lens help to correct such high error?
Best answer:
Answer by Ed
There is no such thing as myopia of 725 degrees. Are you talking about -7.25? If that’s the case, that isn’t really high at all for contact lens manufacturers.
In answer to your question, there is a company that can make a custom made contact lens that will correct up to -30.00. But the contact is EXTREMELY expensive.
Answer by Swadesh A
YES,can be corrected by contact lens or e-LASIK surgery.prior to that pl consult a retina specialist to exclude any retinal thining/tear etc,a common problem in high myopia., which may require additional retinal laser treatment

Why Does My Right Eye Contact Lens Irritate Me Sometimes?
Question by Z: Why does my right eye contact lens irritate me sometimes?
Two times my contact lens in my right eye irritate it and makes it red. To solve the problem I just have to take it out and reinsert it back in my eye and the irritation goes away. I know it’s not a problem with the solution because I leave them in it all night. What is the problem? My left eye contact lens is fine – no problem. What’s wrong?
Best answer:
Answer by Unknown
Maybe there was a little dirt or something in your eye or under the eye lid. Try putting drops in your eyes before you put the contacts in. That’s what I do it usually helps.
Answer by BlkBear
If you are not rubbing your contacts, (even if the solution says NO RUB) there can be left over debris on the lens that did not get removed or rinsed off.
The right lens could be wrinkled or torn, but if removing it and reinserting clears up the problem, that’s unlikely. Just make sure you give the lenses a good visual check for debris and being inside out, before inserting them.

What Is the Diffrence Between Saline Solution and Contact Lens Solution?
Question by kaykay: what is the diffrence between saline solution and contact lens solution?
i just got my navel pierced and they said i should use saline solution to clean it. and i also use contact lenses, so IS saline soultion and contact lenses solution the same thing? and if so can i use my contact lens solution?
Best answer:
Answer by Squeakers
Well, it is saline, and I know saline is generally used in the form of eye products. I would assume it was the same thing and should be fine to use on your piercing. Although I would just reccommend a gentel antibacterial soap, thats what I always did. If you aren’t sure, call the shop that pierced it, they will know.
Answer by jtsocali81
That should be fine, saline is 0.9% saline in water, and contact lense solution is a little more…but contact solution would work fine. Hope this helps.
Answer by lifeisgood
Saline solution is generally a sterile salt/water mixture, similar to tears or sweat. The similarity to natural body fluid is why it’s recommended for rinsing a new piercing. It does not irritate the raw skin or introduce any unnatural elements.
There are different types of contact solution. Some contain chemical cleaners/disinfectants. Some are peroxide based and turn into saline when the cleaning is complete. However, MOST are not the peroxide type.
I would NOT use contact solution on a piercing. Go to your pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, whatever) and just buy sterile saline solution. It comes in a bottle, sometimes in the First Aid section and sometimes in the eyecare section. Either location is fine, just make sure it’s “Sterile Saline Solution”! However, I would ALSO use an antibiotic ointment on your new piercing like bacitracin or neosporin after cleaning — I’m not sure if that was part of the care they advised you of, but I strongly recommend it.

Contact Lens Keeps Floating to Top of Eyelid?
Question by T: Contact lens keeps floating to top of eyelid?
Well lately, my contact lens on my right eye has been strange. My contact keeps floating upward and doesn’t stay in the center like it should. It’s been like this for a couple of weeks now. I’ve replaced my lenses, but it keeps happening. Anyone know what’s wrong?
Best answer:
Answer by thatgurlrightthere
who knoes… go see the eye docter
Answer by cottoncandypimp
Usually, when that happens to me, it’s because of dryness of the eye. My doctor told me not to hang around in air conditioning. It totally depends on your environment.
Answer by dpcwam
It could be inside out…if you’ve tried flipping it over and it’s no better, then there may be a condition known as GPC (giant papillary conjunctivitis). This makes for rubbery bumps on the back of your eyelid that grab the lens and pull it up when you blink. It is a form of allergy that contact lens wearers can develop. Do your eyes itch or make you want to rub them when you remove your contact lenses? This is a sign of GPC. At any rate, you should see your eye doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment….

Why Is My Other Eye More Blurry Than the Other While Wearing Contact Lens?
Question by freakyserious: Why is my other eye more blurry than the other while wearing contact lens?
I’ve been wearing contact lens since November 2007 and I only noticed this blurriness earlier this year. I thought that my other high had a higher grade vision but when I got them rechecked they were still the same.
Still, when I close my left eye I can see that the right eye is blurrier than the left. I feel uncomfortable. I use the drops for lubricating them but it’s still blurry. My left eye is okay.
Best answer:
Answer by dental girl
have your eyes rechecked. change your contacts, rub the lens when you clean them
Answer by sealife8
you probably have an astigmatism in the blurry eye. It just mean the curve of the eye is too steep so things will look a little blurry with contact lenses. I have that happen too.
Answer by Love Me Please
your eye is okay the contacts are bad. well not bad you have to switch lenses get some testers to see first.
my right eye was clear my left eye was blurry and i told the doctor he switched me to acuve advanced and i can see now. just switch brands
Answer by Xeo
Funny you should mention this. I just got contacts last week after having not worn them for 6 years. There is definite blurring with my right eye, almost as though everything is slightly out of synch.
My theory is that we both got prescribed disposable contacts right out of a box because it was easier than ordering custom ones and the doc didn’t think there would be a noticable difference, even though our eyes are obviously not of even strengths.
Hope you find an answer. I’ll be getting mine on Tuesday.
Answer by bugsysue2
I would get myself to the doctor. My daughter that is 30 had this trouble and was put through several tests and has a brain tumor..also there could be the lifting of your lens. But never put off anything with your sight. Any change in any health areas needs attention!
Answer by Spectacle
Maybe you just see better out of one eye than the other. I have been like this for years. I register as having 20/20 in both eyes with my contacts in or glasses on, but I swear I can not see out of my left eye as well as my right. I can not explain it except I just think that my brain listens more to my right eye than my left. Ask your doctor if this could be th case! I now have a bifocal lense that is enhanced with monovision, so my left eye is really being only used for reading and my right eye for distance as I am right eye distance domninant, so I am enhancing my own weirdness and making it work for me. Good luck and do not forget to ask your doctor!

Q&a: Contact Lens!!?

I have seen it stay the same and get worse but never get better. I’m really having a hard time seeing with these contacts. I going to put my glasses on and call them tomorrow when they open because I think my prescription is worng.

Yeah its very rare for eyes to get better lol…most likely it’s something gone wrong with the exam somewhere…
Answer by Jenny
Pretty rare but possible. Consider yourself lucky if it winds up being not an error.
Answer by Eshla
I have lenses for astigmatism, that reshape your eye, which is technically the problem. See, when you’re nearsighted, that’s because your eye is like a flat basketball–too long laterally. Astigmatism-correcting lenses that reshape your eye into a perfect sphere help fix this, therefore making your vision better. Farsighted is like 0 instead of o. It’s too tall instead of too wide. I don’t know if that can be corrected though.
Answer by chuppkaychuppkay
Yes it does happen both better and worse the latter is much more frequent
Answer by Alfred
The lenses might not be up to ur degree. Or just because the material does suit ur eyes. check with the doc again.

Contact Lens??
Question by Powerbar: contact lens??
I just got contacts and i know how to put them on and take them off and the easy stuff, but my doctor didn’t tell me when to clean them, how to clean them, when to clean the contact case. can somebody help me?
Best answer:
Answer by JuneHeart
what?? It’s a requirement for your doctor or your doctor’s assistant to tell you the cleaning procedures for first time contact lens wearers. Your doctor didnt do his job.
You need a multi-purpose solution and clean the lens thoroughly. I rinse my lens case everyday and I change it every 3 weeks or so.
Answer by Eddie c
Clean them when you are putting them on taking them off and replace the water solution in the contact case everytime you use them! And replace the contact case ever 2-3 weeks.
Good Luck
Answer by J D
You need to clean them everytime you take them out of your eyes. Hopefully, your doctor gave you some Multipurpose solution like Opti-Free or ReNu. When you take then lens off your eye place it in the palm of your hand and put a few drops of solution on the lens. Then gently rub each side with your index finger for a few seconds. Then rinse it off with more solution and place it into your contact lens case. Make sure the lens is completely covered with solution before closing the cap. The lenses should soak for at least four hours before using again.
When you put the lenses on again, you don’t have to rub them but you can rinse them a little with more solution. Once you put them on your eyes you need to dump out the solution in the case. Don’t ever re-use the solution. The case can be rinsed out with fresh solution and allowed to air dry. You should replace the case about every three months.
Make sure you wash your hand before handling the lenses.

Contact Lens?
Question by Ash S: contact lens?
Does anyone else hate contacts? what do you do when you are at work or something and they start hurting? like my contacts always seem to get lint or something else stuck under them. i am super careful in putting them in. i dont ever touch my eyes unless i wash my hands. and then i will actually take my contact out and they still hurt. the lint or whatever sticks to my eye and its really hard to get out. what do i do?
Best answer:
Answer by flutterbydf
I would talk to your optometrist. It could be that your contacts don’t fit your eye well enough. It could also be the kind of contact – you may need to try another brand. Are you certain you are not putting them in backward? If none of this helps, you may want to consider just wearing eyeglasses. There are some very fashionable styles nowadays! Hope this helps!
Answer by kornfreak560
Tell your eye doctor the next time you see him/her. If your contacts feel “heavy” when you put them in, you might just need a different brand of contact lens. Some brands tend to fit certain people better, and getting the right lens can go a long way from keeping lint out from underneath the lens- the closer the lens fits to your eye, the less space there is between lens and eye for dust to get in.
If that’s not it, then I’d suggest carrying around artificial tears. It can help flush the dust out of your eye, and maybe you’ll be able to keep the lens in, too.
Answer by rae
I love my contacts! I don’t take anything to work with me, because the fit me perfectly.
I find that things don’t actually get stuck under mine, as they are sat so close to my eye.
It might be that you have the wrong size contacts. Talk to your optometrist and see what they can recommend.
Answer by Todd M
I started wearing contacts at 45 years if age–and I love ‘em. From the first day my older eyes had no problems with the silicone hydrogel Purevisions. When I start to “feel” the lenses (maybe 3 times in 16 hours), I just apply a drop of Blink drops per eye, and within 10 minutes max it’s like wearing nothing at all…
Mind you I started wearing them at 45 years of age, I wear them for 14-16 hours a day, and I smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day; the cards should be stacked against me in terms of contact wearing, but no problems here.
My point is that although we are all different, if your contacts are really bothering you, you need to explore alternatives with your OD. Your cleaning regime and solution(s) could also be the culprit. Explore new possibilities with your doctor, and do your own research on the web before seeing your OD. Don’t put blind faith into anything that they tell you–research and find out for yourself (with only a few weeks of research on CL’s, it has amazed me how much I have taught my doctorated OD!)
Answer by J Stang
Sounds like you need to talk with your eye doctor. He/she may have some recommendations for you, as far as maybe trying another brand or something. They may not be fitting your eyes properly, so he/she may want to remeasure your pupils too.
If your contacts start bothering you at work, take them out and clean them. I always keep a contact case and solution both at work and at home. The CibaVision Aquify solution is a good fast solution for use at work. If you rub the lenses when you clean them, you only have to let them soak in the case for 5 minutes. That might help get rid of some of your discomfort. Eyedrops can help sometimes too…just make sure they are the kind that are safe for use while wearing contacts.

Contact Lens…?
Question by Watergal: contact lens…?
i hve started wearing contacts recently.. i wanted to know how often shud i change the soln in the case…i hve disposable lens(30 days)..i hve spherical and cylindrical(astigmatisim) power…
also my vision is a little misty sometimes is it ok coz i’m new to contacts or is it a prob??
Best answer:
Answer by Mr Kite
Probably every time, or every other time. I have contacts, and it’s a lot easier putting them in with fresh solution.
Answer by S R
For all details, information and remedies about contacts check out http://use-contactlens.blogspot.com/
Answer by J Stang
You should use fresh contact solution each time you clean and store your contacts, which should be done daily. Never reuse solution in your contact case; that can lead to infections.
If your vision is cloudy, it may be that your eyes are still getting adjusted to wearing contacts. It can take some people’s eyes up to 2 weeks to fully adjust to contacts. Sometimes it is a little more difficult for people with astigmatism to find contacts that work well for them. If you’ve had your contacts for more than 2 weeks, I’d recommend calling your eye doctor back. He/she may want you to try out a different brand of contacts for astigmatism…if he/she does, you should be given a trial pair of them so you can see if they work well for you before you actually start ordering them by the box.

Change the solution everyday.

(2) do you have to keep buying some kind of solution or something?

1) Yes
My parents told me wearing contact lens to see better damages your eyes. Weraing glasses is better, but who cares if you look ugly on them. You are wearing it for a reason. So stick with glasses and off contact lens. I never try them on, but i prefer glasses
Answer by jackmatt
1. usually not, but hard contacts, i’ve heard can actually help your vision get slightly better
2. yes you will have to buy a solution to wash & store them in
3. I didn’t feel mine for the first 5 years until I developed allergies, but even then if i could feel them, there was a normal sensation & a bad sensation ( when things weren’t right w/ them)
4. they can, but you can put rewetting drops in or take them out & wear glasses, depending on how long your doc says you can wear them each day.
RN & contact wearer for >10years until I had Lasik
Answer by sachseeyedoctor
Contact lenses are medical devices, so it is good that you are taking a serious look before deciding. But it has not been known to make a prescription worse. You will have to buy solution to keep contact lens disinfected and stored properly. You may feel them in your eyes and you may adapt to them. There are some that can not wear contact lenses at all. Contact lenses can go dry if not used properly or if you have dry eyes to begin with. The decision should be made after consulting with your optometrist after he/she examines your eyes for health and vision and measurements for contact lens parameters.
Answer by dollcarolyn
I’ve worn contacts … and no, they won’t make your prescription worse, although there is an adjustment period since instead of your eyes focusing though a lens a bit away from your eye, you are now focusing with a lens directly on your eye. You do need solution, your Dr. will tell you which one is best for your lenses, and how frequently to clean them. You should not feel them in your eyes once you get used to them. They should be comfortable to the point where you aren’t even aware that they are there. But, if something does get in your eye it can slip under the contact and that doesn’t feel good, but just use drops to flush your eye and that should help. The biggest danger from contacts is from not taking good care to wash your hands before handling them, and not cleaning and disinfecting them properly. If you use dirty hands or put in (or keep in)dirty contacts there is a risk of an eye infection – but I’ve had contacts for years and I never got an infection. America’s Best, for example, will give you a trial pair when you go in for an exam and fitting so that you can see how they work for you, and they’ll adjust the contact type so that it is best for you.
Answer by soccer_player89
1. i dont think so
2. yea.. its called solution but they sell them in big bottles, mien goes for up to AT LEAST 3 months
3. if uve been wearing the contacts for the WHOLE day lets say 7AM-11PM.. lik at 11PM, ull feel tht theyre drying up.
4. ya they dry up, but u take it off at nite and but it in solution, and the next mroning theyre good. it doesnt do anything. i even sleep with my contacts soemtimes, and in the morning, theyre rlly dry, but my eyes r fine, but i dont suggest any1 does tht cz its juss stupid lool.
well.. if u dont wanna wear glasses then sure, buy contacts. ive been wearing contacts sincei was 12 (soo 3 yrs) and im good with it; no problems, take it off at nite, put it on in the morning; so simple;) lool.

Answer by lovetoplayfantasyfootball
Contacts can be more expensive than glasses, but they’re far more comfortable.
1. Most eye doctors will tell you no.
2. It depends. Assuming your eyes are normal, you should be able to wear them from when you wake up to when you go to sleep. I can get about 14 hours of wear from mine until my eyes start to feel dry. You’ll always want to remove them before going to sleep.
3. I’m not sure what you mean.
4. I’m not sure what you mean here either. Can you clarify?
Answer by anna
1. No. They won’t make your eyesight worse. As for your vision while wearing the lenses, it should be just as good as glasses, provided you get the right prescription.
2. Depends on the specific brand & type of contact. There are plenty of contacts you can leave in for any amount of time you’d need in a day. I wear a brand that you can leave in your eye for a week. If you have sensitive eyes, they might not do well w/ those contacts, though.
3. Umm…. has it been there for awhile? Does it bother you (itching, pain) in any way? You may want to get that checked out, esp. if it won’t go away.
4. There are different types of contact lenses. Not all are appropriate for everybody, but in general, for soft contact lenses (which most ppl these days wear) –
- Make sure you clean & dry your hands!
- Keep both eyes open when putting them in
- Put the contact on the tip of your index finger (if you’re right handed, use your right index finger, if you’re left, use the left)
- Use your middle finger on the same hand to pull down your lower eyelid
- Use your other hand to slide up your upper eyelid
- Gently place the contact in your eye. Helps if you look down while doing it, & slide the contact up a bit while you’re putting it in.
- Expect it to take several tries b-4 you get it in successfully! If it doesn’t work right away, & your eyes are watering, take a break until they’re better, & then try again.
…. & I know you said you didn’t want to hear this, but you ~should~ see a doctor to get your appropriate prescription & to make sure contacts & which specific types are appropriate for you. In the US (don’t know where you live?), you have to have a prescription from a doctor b-4 you can order contact lenses anyway. As a note, contact lense prescriptions differ from eyeglass prescriptions – even if you can just order lenses where you live w/out a doctor’s written prescription, a contact lense prescription actually contains different information than what is an eyeglass prescription.
Good luck!
Answer by angela
When I first got my contact lenses I was amazed at how much clearer I could see. It was great. When you first start wearing contacts, your doctor will limit the number of hours you wear them for about a week or so. After that you can wear them as long as you are awake. Don’t sleep in them though, except for maybe a short nap. I usually wear my contacts for around 15 hours a day. I’m not sure what you mean by pink colour in your eye. As long as you don’t have an infection then it will be fine. Someone at the doctor’s office will show you how to put in your lenses and take them out. You get the lens out of the saline solution and hold it on your index finger. They’ll tell you how to look at it to make sure it’s the right way. Then, you’ll hold your upper lid with your other hand and insert your lens. It takes a few days to get used to doing this. When you take it out, you pull it down and squeeze it to get it to come out. It’s a lot easier then it might sound. I started wearing contacts when I was about your age, and that was a long time ago. I wouldn’t go back to glasses for anything. My 13 year old daughter started wearing contacts a few months ago and she really likes them.
Answer by Liz
contacts are asome! they totally rock.. there easier to use than glasses.. there great for sports..
1. it will not make your eye sight worse
2. you can ware them all day exept for at night, then you should take them out.. there are contacts that you can ware that can be worn 30 days and 30 nights.. but you should not get those because they are not good for you eye.. get the kind that dont last long because they are healthier for your eye..
3. hmm pink eye?? if you have a pink eye, then you really shouldnt ware contacts until your eye heals.. just ware your glasses at that time.
4. umm your doctor will tell you how to put them in and out.. you can put them in on the white part of your eye, and then they will slide to ur eye autimatically because they are made for your eye.. you can also put it directly on ur eye, but i dont..
and to take them out, you can find your own uniqe way.. there isnt really a certain way..(i dont think) that you have to get them out.. whatever is comfortable for you will work.. your doctor can tell you whats best..
i hope i gave some advise.. good luck!

Q&a: Contact Lens??????????????
Question by I’m mad.: Contact Lens??????????????
Can wearing the more stronger contact lens on the wrong eye mess up the eye’s sight over time (my eyes have different measurements)? I think I made this mistake, i just switched them back around and with the right contacts on it’s sort of blurry now… did my left eye get used to the stronger lens? HELP!
Best answer:
Answer by hippo37
No it wont’ mess up your eyesight. A badly fitting lens can rub yoru eye or be uncomfortable but not this sort of effect. Are you sure the lenses are not inside out? Sometimes when you get them in the wrong eye they get inside out as well. One of the ways you tell if lenses are in correctly is how things look. Its also possible that you have put a smudge on your lenses or your eyes have got a bit dry taking them in/out. If you have an astigmastism then you may have toric lenses and if you handle those a lot they sometimes dont’ sit in the right position in the eye resulting in slight blurring. Rubbing with fresh solution/re-wetting drops usually fixes that.
If its just the left one which is blurry then take that lens out give it a clean and put in back in the other way around. If its still blurry then the likelihood is that you originally had your lenses in teh right way around. Take them BOTH out. Then take one lens try it in both eyes and see how things look. I like to have a piece of print which always sits at a certain distance and I know should be clear so that I can easily check I have the lens in the right eye and its sitting correctly.

You probably got something on the lens that’s irritating your eye. Hold it up to the light to check. It may be a tiny hair or speck of dust that you can wash off with saline but it also may have embedded itself in the lens. Do you use hairspray or mascara? What type of lenses did you get? I’ve worn contacts for years and years and by far like the disposable ones best. Once they get dirty you just toss them and put a new pair in. O2 Optix are the kind I have and definitely recommend them.

If I understand this correctly you are using daily lenses. That is what I use. My right eye requires -3.75 and my left requires -2.5. So if I ever mix them up and put left into right my vision would be blurry too. That could be your problem if you prescription is different. As far as the burning… even dailies get particles on them as soon as you open the package… I always use my saline solution to rinse them. You possibly could have an eye infection and need to see the doctor. It would not hurt to call the doc just in case.

thats funny cuz i had the same problem. i kinda depends on what contacts brand you have. i have the baush & lomb purevision. what my eye doctor told me was that they had come out with a new design. it is a little bit stiffer than the previous soft contacts. the new ones dont cup your eye as good cuz they are so stiff. the blurriness bugged so much that he had to order me the old kind. another problem could be that you have an astigmatism. cuz that made it blurry for me also. so i needed to get the toric contacts. so your best bet would be to go and see your doctor. hope this helps.

How do you know it’s your left lens?
Answer by ßecki
It could quite simply be that the contact in your left eye isn’t as good a fit as the one in your right eye – it happens, not both eyes are the same shape! The blurring effect you get is when the contact lens ‘slips’ around on your eye from being badly fitting, so everything seems either blurred or you get a double vision/ghosting effect. It could be that you require a better fitted pair of lenses, ones with parameters (measurements) to better suit your eyes. I have been through numerous contact lenses because of blurring, you just have to keep trying until you’ve found the right ones! Its a case of trial and error most of the time.
Good luck!

sure! go to the eye doc (US) or optician (UK) & get fitted.
the “worse” a prescription is, generally the better the person sees in contacts vs glasses.
