About Contact Lens(New in Contact Lens)?
Hi, I wear glass with -3.00 power on both eyes. But because I am playing sports in my school now glasses are really a big problem for me. I am thinking about switching to contact lenses. But I never tried contact Lens before. So, if anyone used contact before, I would like to know–
–How much does it cost to get a pair of contact lens?
–Does it create any problem with eyes?
–How long can I use a pair of contact lens (I use my glasses for about an year and half)
–Where can I buy good; cheaper and long lasting contact lenses?
So, if anyone can answer those question; that would be a great help.

You will need to have an eye exam to determine your prescription and a contact lens exam to take special measurements of your cornea. The cost varies based on where you go. Wearing contacts according to your Dr’s instructions won’t cause any problems with your eyes. If you overwear your lenses (wear them longer than you’re supposed to or sleep in them when you’re not supposed to) you can develop problems like corneal ulcers (very painful). You may also develop neovascularization; this happens when your cornea doesn’t get enough oxygen so it starts growing blood vessels where there shouldn’t be any. Overwear your contacts long enough and you can make it so you can’t ever wear contacts or have LASIK surgery. Contacts come in 1 day wear, 2 week wear, monthly wear, 6 month wear, and yearly wear; the time frame is how often you have to replace them. The contact lenses you buy from your dr. are the same contacts you’ll get from anywhere online. It’s been my experience that contacts are cheaper bought from your dr; some online places can’t give you some of the rebates offered from the contact manufacturer. If you have dry eyes the AcuVue Oasys by Vistakon is a good contact. Contact lens wearers should also always have a pair of glasses as a backup. The best thing to do would be to talk to your eye dr. to get all the facts and go from there. Good luck!
I have been wearing contact for more than 10 yrs. It depends what kind of contacts you buy. Clear contact lenses are less expensive than color contact lenses. Colors can run you from $35-$40 a box, depends on the brands. I pay about $20 for my clear contact lenses. The contact they make now does not cause eye problem because they have made them so your eye gets more oxygen. It is recommended that you buy the disposable ones that you wear for about a week then you throw them out. Honestly I wear mine for 3 weeks then I throw them out. The first time you get your contacts make sure you go to an eye doctor for a thorough exam and contact fit. After that you can order your lenses on line. Try visiondirect.com (that is what I use) or 1800contacts.com. I hope I answered all of your questions.
i am new to the process too! i just got my first pair yesterday and it’s SO much easier than i thought.
at my eye doctor, which is the wal-mart one, and i think mostly all others, you get a free trial pair to see if you like contacts and can get used to them.
if you make sure to soak it in solution and have clean fingers it should not hurt your eye at all. maybe feel weird at first cause ur not used to having something in it, but you cant feel in after a few seconds
it depends on the contacts, mine are montly. so u get a new pair every month. and it’s the lower end toric brand, cause i have astigmatism, which is i think like $120 bucks a year. also, make sure to have back up glasses just in case.
i think walmart is just fine. it’s a real doctor who went to eye school. and it’s not super expensive. but i would reccomend just going to your normal eye place. good luck! and trust me, it’s much nicer than glasses!
The cost varies.
If you have dry eyes, you might have trouble wearing contact lenses.
You can wear each pair of disposable lenses for about 2 weeks, taking them out at night. Some contacts allow you to leave them in full time for a month. Most contact lens providers give you a years worth.
