Are Gas Permeable Contact Lenses Preferrable to Soft Lenses for Dry Eyes?

I’ve worn soft contacts in the past but they dry out my eyes very quickly. I know gas permeable lenses take a while to get used to because they are rigid, but which are better for dry eyes? I heard soft lenses dry your eyes because the eye pushes moisture into the drying soft contact lense. Would a gas permeable lense allow my eye to stay more hydrated? Thank you!

    • Mr. P says:

Stick with the soft lenses and talk to your eye doctor about having tubes inserted into your tear ducts, this is a common problem that they can easily fix. The gas permeables will irritate your eyes and they will be red all of the time, even when you don’t notice that they are being irritated. Also you will lose contact lenses more often as the hard ones are easy to blink out or rub out, or will simply slide off when your eyes tear up.
