Astigmatism?

I have pretty much good eye site. I do however notice that ocassionaly when I am reading something far away it looks fussy, or I mis up letters (the D might look like a b or something) this doesnt always happen however. I also notice that I havea tendency to hold papers very cloe to my face, I can hold it away and read it fine but I just have a tenency to hold it close to my face. In doctors office eye tests when I cover my right eye the eye chart goes blurry and if I take a few minutes and blink my eyes my it gets less blurry, but is not totally clear. However voerall I don’t have major problems. Do I have a minor astigmatism? What all do you need to do to have an astigmatism diagnosed and get glasses to help? Do people with a stigmatism have to wear their glasses at all tI ames or is it only when you are doing certin things?

You may have astigmatism, but if it was severe you’d be getting headaches from straining your eyes. If I were you instead of just reading the letters off on the chart and going on with the exam, I’d tell the eye doctor that while you can make them out, they appear fuzzy and you have to focus hard to make them out. Because if you don’t speak up, your doctor can’t read your mind.

People with astigmatism mostly just use their glasses to read, and while watching tv, on the computer, etc. I have it, and I started out only needing them occasionally, but as I’ve gotten older my eyesight has gotten worse so I feel more comfortable wearing them all time.

Also, they do make contacts now for people with astigmatism, but I’ve never tried them. my eyes are too sensitive.

I have it, and I don’t really use glasses. They make it only slightly clearer, and I feel dizzy in them.

If you can see fine, then there’s probably no problem. The blurriness is the light reflecting wrong or something like that. Sounds bad, but it’s not hard to live with. Astigmatism is a combination of far and near-sightedness. So a bad or good of both worlds.

I suggest you prescribe a pair of glasses just to keep, and wear it if you want.

i had the EXACT same problem…when i went to the eye doctor, he said i had astigmatism and that i needed glasses…u should go too…..i think u need glasses…u dont have to wear them all the time but when things get blurry, glasses will really clear it up

Yep, I think you have minor astigmatism. Go to an eye doctor or opthalmologist, and have a check up. People with astigmatism don’t need to wear their glasses all the time. Usually the doctor gives you "reading glasses" which you must wear whenever you’re reading something.
