Can Eye Strain from Watching TV in the Dark Help Astigmatism?

If you watch TV in the dark, it’ll give you eye strain. Especially when the colors’ contrast changes too fast for your eyes to ajust. I learned that this does not damage your eyes but just gives it eye strain. Can this "exercise" help astigmatism?
I’ll rephrase the last question.
Can this "exercise" reduce the degree of astigmatism?

  • XOUT says:

Absolutely not. Astigmatism is caused by the particular shape of your cornea. The cornea is not affected by exercise.

Yes, your eyes can go bad strain them in the dark

xout is right. astigmatism is associated with the shape of your cornea or the shape of your lens, neither of which can be affected by any eye exercise or any amount of "straining".

  • No, watching TV in the dark won’t help anything. I suggest you check out Lasik surgery. If you are old enough (generally over 18) and you are in good healthy, laser eye surgery can correct the astigmatism. The cornea itself is reshaped and your vision will return to normal. The procedure has a very good success rate with generally minor side effects.
