Can I Become a Firefighter if I Have Glasses or Contact Lenses?

I heard you have to have good vision, but can you join if you wear contact lenses?

Yes you can. Per NFPA 1500, the standard that governs all US fire departments, allows firefighters to wear classes or contacts as long as they obtain a visual correction of no worse that 20/40. To be able to wear contacts under a SCBA mask the wearer must have demonstrated successful wear of at least six months. Otherwise you would have to wear the lens insert in your mask.

First of all, there is no such thing as "perfect" eyesight. 20/20 is simply the mean for uncorrected vision in a healthy, young adult.

Standards for public safety workers vary from one jurisdiction to another. Are you in the USA? If so, then your state is the level at which the standards are applied.

The easiest way to find out is to call your local fire department administrative office and ask.
