Can I Go to Walmart Vision Center for an Eye Exam Then Go to Some Other Store to Get My Frame/lenses?

An example would be Walmart + Lenscrafters

I would believe so. Anywhere that’s going to give you an exam I think would some how legally be obligated to give you a copy of your prescription, and then of course you’d be able to go elsewhere.

Absolutely, however, it might end up costing you more. They usually have package deals. Lens crafters can be spendy. Get some quotes over the phone 1st – save yourself some running around. Of course if lenscrafters has the coolest glasses, get what you like!

The walmart here only has lenses/frames, etc. you have to go to a doc which is also in the store but separate from the lens store. You should be able to go to any eye doc and take your prescription wherever you like. Also the doc at my walmart is very expensive versus others in my area.

yeah. just keep the prescription sheet from wal-mart, and give it to the guys at lenscrafters so they can put a grade on the glasses you choose.

YES. You pay for your eye exam and are entitled to the results of the exam. Where you have the prescriptions filled ( make the spectacles ) is up to you. Some places may offer a deal ie cheap frames/lens package with the exam since it is the sales of the frames and lenses that brings in the money for them.

The law states that the ODs HAVE to give you your rx. You can purchase glasses anywhere you choose. Be advised, Lenscrafters is expensive. Find ads and compare apples to apples. Some will include upgraded lenses and some won’t. SHOP! Understand what add-ons you need and price them. Good places will give you quotes on paper. Find out the names of who you talk to. I’m an optician and like anything else, ther are good and bad.

Yes. All optomotrists are required by law to give you a copy of your prescription. you may then get your glasses anywhere you want. (if you have a Costco membership they have great deals and are highly rated.)
