Can I Wear My Contact Lenses When I Go Swimming?

I wear contact lenses, I am just wondering can I wear them when I go swimming or skinny dipping? I wear them when I take a shower, my contacts kinda stick to my eyes, they wouldn’t move as easily like when they do when I first put them on. So does anybody know the answer to this? I am almost blind without my contacts.

You could try wearing goggles with your contacts, but you dont want to where just contacts, they float out of your eyes!

I don’t have contacts (I’m a wimp with glasses, lol), but I have several friends with them. They all swim with their contacts in.

my eye doctor said not to. So i guess not.

I swim w/ mine all the time they stick to your eyes even more than when showering. ANd I’ve lost a few swimming but wear disposables. Haven’t gone blind yet and have been wearing contacts for over twenty years. My eyes were stil healthy @ my last check up. GO for it. Opening you eyes underwater is another story and chlorine probably can’t be good for the lenses. If you wear a mask or goggles you’ll be ok for sure.

don’t wear them! they will get lost in the pool and assuming they’re clear, you’ll never find it. You can get prescriptions into your goggles

  • Smithy says:

I do, just make sure you wear goggles or just don’t open your eyes under water.

I do it all the time. Every time ever since I got them. Have I died yet?

Not recommended, but they probably won’t float out – apparently the problem is getting an infection behind them.

However, you can find special swimming goggles with corrective lenses. But if you have a good fitting pair of ordinary goggles, you shouldn’t get much water inside them.
