Can I Wear My Roughly Used Monthly Contact Lenses After a Month Has Passed?

I have a pair of good for 2 months contact lenses which I bought last April and only used them once. Two months have passed already but I’m wondering if I could still use them.

My optometrist says that the labels of "monthly" or any other expiration date are only used so that you will buy more contacts. As long as you keep your contacts clean and sanitary, you should be able to wear them for much longer. I usually wear my monthlies for about six months. However, if they start causing you discomfort, are becoming discolored, or torn, or you haven’t been taking proper care of them, it is probably time to start a new pair.
