Can Someone Tell Me How to Put Temporary Contact Lenses in?!?

I have read a few sites that tell you obvious ways to put a contact lens that do NOT work for me. I bought some temporary ones and am having a really hard tI ame putting them in. My eyes blink automatically when i try to put them in. I CANNOT help it. Though I can try to stop blinking to a degree. It takes me 30 min-1 hour just to get 2 in. It either sticks to my fingers, doesn’t stick enough and falls off, sticks to my eyelashes, sticks to my eyelid etc.

I try to open my eyes wide asd possible and have gotten them in twice with ALOT of difficulty. Any advice that isn’t obvious would be appreciated.

It sounds like you should wear glasses. I used to wear contacts, but stopped when I noticed that my eyes were getting scratches on them. It was also really hard for me to not mess up my makeup and put on my contacts. If I really want to look nice I’ll take my glasses off for a little while, but keep them near. By the way, I can’t tell you how much money I’ve been able to put towards shoes because I’m not spending it on contacts.

It takes some practice i am afraid. I had the same thing when i got my normal contacts. It took forever to get them in. You know how doctors tell you to put the contacts on the bottom then slide them up, i can’t do that. It really hurts as soon as the contact touches my eye. What I do is to moisten the contact a lot then place it on my index finger, and force my eye lid up with my left hand middle finger (make sure of grip), and place it on my eye as it would be if it was in my eye instead of sliding it up. It suctions onto my eye and stays. When you are letting go be carefully of air bubbles. If there are then use your bottom lid to help you slowly get rid of air bubbles before letting your upper lid drop. I dont’ know what else to say but that helps me a lot. For taking it out i force my eye up the same way and just tug it out by folding it with my right hand (I am right-handed) index and thumb. Good luck and yes it does take practice.

I understand that this is obvious- but really you just have to practice. Also, maybe less obvious- look the other way when you’re putting it in. I wore contacts for 22 year. It took me a while to learn how to put them in. Using my right hand: Put my ring finger on the soft skin just below my eyelashes on my bottom lid; gently push in and pull the skin down until my finger rests snugly on my orbital bone. Turn my eyeball to look out of the outside corner of my eye. Then using my middle finger gently place the lens on my eye. Then close my eye and roll my eye foreward allowing the lens to float over to the right spot. Sometimes instead of looking out of the corner of my eye I would look up. Basically, you’re looking away from your finger, not directly at your finger. When you close your eye the lens will float into place.

    Good luck!

Put the lens on your index finger and use the middle finger on that same hand to pull the skin underneath the eye down slightly. Then use the middle finger of your other hand to hold your eye lid up. Gently press the lens onto your eyes and slide it around in a small circle to remove any air bubbles.

This is how i have put my contacts in for the last 3 years so hopefully it works for you. Good luck!

I had this problem when I first got contacts! What helps alot for me is to look upwards, and gently grip my eyelashes at the top, enough to pull back my eyelid just a little. None of this GRAB YOUR EYELID KAY crap, cos it’s really hard. After you do that, gently place the contact lens against your eye, putting the top part into the eye first, where you’re pinning back your lashes. From there, you can gently push the bottom of the contact into the rest of your eye – be firm or it’ll fall off! Don’t worry about hurting yourself, there’s a layer between your eye and your finger. If you keep on blinking, try to relax and tell yourself you can do it – when you start getting nervous or stressing out, I find that it’s WAY harder to put them in. Once it’s resting lightly on your eye, gently push it down with the pad of your finger – it should make little popping noises if there’s air underneath the contact lens. Don’t worry, that’s just the air escaping and this way, the contact lens will adhere to your eye better. Then slowly close your eyes. Or that’s what they tell you to do, but it’s actually hard to move your eyes slowly. I suggest not moving your eye around, and just shutting it. That helps. Make sure your contacts are well lubricated so they stick better, and RELAX. It’s not really about opening your eye wide as it is just pulling back your eyelashes while you put them in. If your eyelashes are in the way, stop, and pull them back. You’ll be fine after some practice!
