I have a small prescription of -1.75 in both of my eyes and I have astigmatism in both as well. However, in my left eye I have lenticular astigmatism instead of regular astigmatism. As a result, contact lenses are hard to fit because of the lack of soft front surface toric lenses available. My question is, with my eyes am I still able to have laser eye surgery done (Lasik, PRK, etc.)? Thanks

The only soft colored contact lenses that I can find for astigmatism are for a cylinder up to -1.75 (Freshlook Colorblends Toric). I am -1.75 in one eye and -2.25 in the other. Are there any other colored soft contacts that I’m unaware of that would work? Thanks!
P.S. I cannot wear hard or gas permeable lenses.

I started wearing glasses at age 5 due to near-sightedness in both eyes. By around age 13 my eyes were perfect and I ceased wearing glasses. Over the next five years my right eye became very slightly near-sighted again and my left eye became very far-sighted – it now has astigmatism. I’m wearing glasses again almost every day (when before it was all day every day) because about a year of using contact lenses bothered me. I don’t understand why my left eye deteoriated, but even with my new glasses on I have blurry vision sometI ames. Will it get better, or is eye surgery the only option in the future?
(Currently 20 years old.)

I recently had cataract surgery and the AcrySof Toric IOL I amplanted in one eye. At the first checkup, my vision was:

SPH: +1.25
CYL: Nil
AXIS: Nil

Just 2 days ago, my follow up revealed the following

SPH: +1.00
CYL: -0.50
AXIS: 160

Q: During this period, I developed about -0.50 D of astigmatism. What are the chances of my Astig progressing until I’ll be needing astigmatic correction in the future?

Q: I hear from my surgeon that some form of astigmatism can be beneficial for my overall vision. What qualify it as "beneficial astigmatism"?

Q: It is believed that mild level of astigmatism does not warrant correction. What range is considered as "mild"? Will my current level of astigmatism require vision correction?

Q: My concern is since my IOL is a toric lens, initial tests showed that it corrected 100% of my astigmatism. The sudden appearance of -0.50 D of Astig, may mean the IOL is rotating inside my eye, thus negating any correction by the IOL? How likely is that the case?

I have astigmatism in one eye and the doctor won’t do anything for me. I can hardly see out of that eye because everything is blurry. My previous eye doctor once gave me contacts for astigmatism. My new eye doctor says I only have it in one eye (although my previous doctor said both eyes) and he can’t do anything about it. The past year has been horrible for me because I can’t see very well out of that eye. I’ve posted many questions the past few days about my eye problems (all of which started when I began going to hI am). I’m tired of not being able to see clearly. Anyone know what can be done? Why won’t he fix my vision problem?
I do wear contacts all the tI ame (I should have mentioned that). He won’t give me contacts for astigmatism because he says it’s so slight (I don’t think it is because I can’t see well at all out of the eye) and nothing can be done. Couldn’t he give me one regular contact for my left eye and an astigmatism contact for my right eye? He had me do the eye chart again in my follow up with my contact in (b/c I told hI am I couldn’t see well still) and I thought for a moment that I didn’t have it in! That’s how badly I see out of my right eye. I couldn’t even read the line he asked me too. I told hI am this and he ignored it and said I had to stick with the prescription he’d just given me. (By the way, I’ve had this problem for a year since I’ve started going to hI am. My second visit was last week and the follow up yesterday.) I wish I’d gone to another doctor. My original eye doctor (the one that gave me astigmatism contacts) died a few years ago. That’s why I have a new doctor.

If you watch TV in the dark, it’ll give you eye strain. Especially when the colors’ contrast changes too fast for your eyes to ajust. I learned that this does not damage your eyes but just gives it eye strain. Can this "exercise" help astigmatism?

Can this "exercise" reduce the degree of astigmatism?

I just went to get my eyes checked, and the doctor said that my eyes are in really great health, and that I have 20/20 vision. Or at least it is close, because he said i do not need glasses. However, he told me that i do have a slight or small astigmatism, but it’s not bad enough to actually affect my vision. How is this possible, and will the astigmatism get worse over tI ame causing me to need glasses in the future?
