Colored Contact Lenses Risky?
My eyes are dark dark brown, even almost black. My eye doctor is really skeptical about colored contact lenses, as they don’t circulate as much oxygen as the colorless ones he was suggesting for me. The choice is still up to me though, should I risk it and tell my doctor to eat a grenade and get the colored contact lenses anyways, or should I obey his commands and be prescribed colorless contact lenses?

Most of the color lenses on the market (there are very few) are not as healthy as most clear lenses. However, you can wear them and be healthy, provided you are very compliant with the care of these lenses. You are as healthy as you are compliant. You should also note, that with color lenses, the vision is not as good, esp. at night ’cause your pupil dilates at night and then you are looking through a fixed clear pupil zone on the lens and you will be looking through part of the paint. I personally hate color lenses, but that is because I see more problems with them, altough the problems stem from the patients poor compliance 90% of the time. I think you always look better with what you got anyway..
I have dark brown, almost black at times and most of the lenses out there do not change my color of my eyes except for Coopervision’s Expressions. But not all the colors. Try them, you can get free trials. They are thicker than regular contact lenses because of the layers of colors put on them, but if you are blinking and changing them out at night and using eye drops, you should be fine. But I am not a doctor. He knows you best and your eyes.
