Contact Lens and Eye Exam Question?
I need to go in for my yearly eye exam and am wanting to get both glasses and contact lenses. If I want to do both would I have to get both a regular eye exam and a cl exam or would I be able to get my prescription for my glasses during the contact lens exam. I do know that for the contacts i have to do the cl exam. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

The two different exams is a misnomer. There are not two different exams. Both exams look at the health of your eye and both exams give you a prescription. The only thing different is the addition of the part where the doctor looks at the curvature of your cornea and measures the diameter of your iris in order to fit you with contacts. That is is only thing that is different (the addition of the measuring procedure). But you will then go out and be given contacts to put on using the doctor’s Rx and then he or she will take another look at you to make sure the contacts are fitting you correctly. If you are a first time wearer then the optician will train you and teach you about caring for your contacts.
cl prescription need two things ( fitting and correction)
1- fitting is choosing the correct size fit your eye
2- correction which depend on your case some were have totally changed correction than glasses,.
so you need a CL exam, which is different than glasses prescriptions
at my place i went in and they just got my perscription thingy and then they will take you back to a contact room and they will give you a trial pair and ull c if u can put them in then you can get ur glasses and get contacts too
Yes, you can get prescriptions for glasses and contacts with one exam.
