Contact Lens for Better Vision.?
1. Do you know what age you have to be in order to wear contact lens?
2. What is the safest brand or place to buy contact lens?
3. Pro’s and Con’s
I’m turning 13 in Sept.
And I asked my parents for contact lens for a while.
They always said NO.
But my eye doctor said that as long as I am responsible, I can get Contacts.
But a girl who worked at a glasses place said that you should wait till they get
13 or 14 to get contact lens.
Any tips will help. Thanks soo much!

1. 13 or 14 sounds like the right age. I mean as long as you know what you’re doing.
2. I’ve been using Johnson & Johnson Acuvue 14 days disposable. It is good quality, nice and soft on the eye. I heard the 1 day Acuvue is even better.
3. Pro’s:
- you lose the weight of a spectacle on your nose.
- you can wear normal sunglasses
- you are gonna look fresher without glasses
- your vision is not limited to the frame of your glasses
- member of the opposite sex will start chatting to ya
Con’s:
- If you have astigmatism like I do, you can’t stare at the computer screen for too long. You’ll get sore eyes.
- taking it off before bed and putting it on in the morning
- cost of acquiring the lenses and the solution
- you will still need glasses because the recommendation is to not have it on for more than 8 hours.
- if you have dry eyes, you need special eye drop for contact lens. Normal eye drop will damage the lens.
- you can accidentally blink while taking the lenses off halfway or puttin it on halfway and the lens will go up into your eyelid.
I got contacts when I was 14. You buy them from your eye doctor, and he or she will tell you what kind is best for you based on your prescription, how dry your eyes are, etc. The girl at the glasses place is not who you should listen to, the eye doctor is the professional. But ultimately it’s up to your parents since they are the ones paying for it, and the ones in charge of you. If you want to convince them that you’re responsible enough to have contacts, do your chores without being asked, keep your room (and self clean), and don’t get into trouble. Good luck!
Pros: if specs don look good on you contacts can take care of that, color contacts are available, they are usually cheaper if u buy sensibly
Cons: harder to manage, they are fragile, doesn’t always help in certain conditions (for example your door bell rings in da middle of nite hehe)
consult a doc for the age thingy .. actually depends on if u are mature enough to take care of contacts
contactlenses.co.uk (if u’re in UK) otherwise search on google
you have 2 try a few brands before you can choose the one that suits you
I got my contact lens when I was 12 years old. I think the best brand is Acuvue 2, that’s the brand that I use and I love the contact lens. You can see very well. =)
I am 11 and I have contacts!
Lol they work out fine.
My daughters wear contacts,.. They have very good vision with them,..
Pros,.. more comfortable and less distracting in activities.
Cons,.. You must discipline yourself in the care of them,.. such as taking out nightly and replacing at right times.. weekly, monthly etc.,..
I have even known of nine and ten year olds to wear them,.. Just depends on how bad you want to learn to get them in,.. and if you are mature enough to care for them,.. Even some "adults" don’t replace them as they should!
As far as the brands,.. trust the doctor to decide! Good Luck!
Now to convince the parents you are responsible enough,.. hmmm,.. how clean do you keep your room??…..
