Contact Lens Prescripion Cost?

I was wondering how much it would cost to go get a contact lens prescription? Ive had them before but thats when i had insurance. I want to start wearing them again. Don’t i have to get a glasses prescription first before i can get my contact lens prescription?

i dont have insurance, and all i do is schedule an eye exam, (they do a basic exam), but also do a contact lens exam (which i pay for). then the doc gives me a prescription, and i can buy a psi of glasses and/or contact lens. you do need a contact lens exam to buy lenses, but the contact lens exam and basic exam go together.
the cost varies by doctor. I pay about 80 dollars for the exam.

It depends on where you live and how much doctors charge there AND the complexity of your contact lens prescription and fitting.
My doctor gives a range of $75-250. When I went though, they were having issues with a lot of patients so I had to wait an hour before he saw me and he only charged me $45 even though my fit is kind of complex. Good karma

You technically don’t HAVE to get a glasses Rx first, but they usually do it. Do you currently wear glasses? If so, they’ll just check your existing Rx, see if you want new lenses if it’s changed and then do your contact fitting as well.
