When we talk about contact lens or glasses power, we normally talk about sphere power. It corresponds to the kind of power that we would get from grinding your lens with a sphere (round ball). This is pretty close to what it takes to make light focus at a point but not exactly. An aspheric lens corrects that small amount of defocus. All things being equal, your vision should be sharper with an aspheric lens. The Wiki article explains more.

It’s a little hard to explain. A sphere is part of a perfect circle. Aspherical is taken from a non-circle. Meaning the curves on an aspheric lens get flatter as you approach the edge of the lens. Doing this lessens some of the aberrations produced by a spherical lens especially in higher powers.

Actually, glasses and artificial lenses are not treating eye ailments. By doing certain exercises you can restore your eyesight naturally on a daily basis. Try to improve your vision with no glasses, contacts and surgeries.
