Contact Lens,8.6 Base Curve on 8.8 Base Curve Eyes?

i just got a prescription for contacts, and i was going to buy costume lenses for halloween. anyway, they only come in the base curve of 8.6. but my base curve is 8.8….so is it ok to get them??? sorry I am new to contacts, so i dont really know what base curve means…what would be the affects? like would it be too tight, or drying, or they just wouldnt fit or something? thank you so much!

Well, it depends on the person and the contacts. It is recommended not wear lenses more than 0.2mm off your base curve, so you might be okay…there is just more of a chance that they will not be comfortable. They might slide around in your eye, you might always be able to tell they are they (proper contacts feel like nothing is there), and I’ve heard from some people they have had them pop out, but that’s not very common. The base curve is just the curve of your eye, kind of like the shape of your eye…how flat or round it is sort of. So you could kind of imagine how something the wrong shape/size would sit on top of it.

So, overall, it would be safe to try. You might have comfort problems, or they might be just fine.
Like, I know people with BC 8.4mm wearing 8.6mm lenses with no problems.
    It just depends really.
    Hope that helped somewhat =)
