Contact Lense Process?

I want to get contact lens. But I have a few questions about what goes on exactly.
Also, is it possible to just get your prescription from your doctor and buy contact lens over some website? Or do they have to be special or something? Is this a big risk?
How much do you think an eye exam specifically for contacts would cost, excluding the cost of the actual contacts.. And what about with contacts.
hmm, I seem to be getting different answers. So can I or can’t I buy them online, do you mean it’s just not reccomended to buy them online?
And when you talk about eye shapes, does that mean there are specific contacts you should be using/buying. Or do you mean you have to get special ones made each tI ame you buy them?

yes you can buy your contacts over the web as long as you know what your pescribtion is. when I got my eye exam for my contacts like a lil over a year ago it cost like 150. then 50 per box of contacts that had 6 in them
Go to your eye doc, get your prescription and go to 1800contacts.com. Fill it out and order them, they’re the same contacts you buy at the doc’s office. You will only save about $5 though. Have your doc explain to you where on the prescription card you can find the size of your eye and anything else you will need. I suggest printing out the order form from the site and taking it in and let them help you fill it out. Exam costs vary from place to place. Walmart charges around $75.
The exam cost varies greatly & depends on if you have any insurance or not. After you have seen your Eye Doctor & he has finalized your prescription You should be able to buy them online. Make sure you have a finalized prescription. & get annual check ups
With contact lenses, you need to have an eye test done by the optometrist. S/he will let you know if you are a suitable candidate for contacts, as some people are unable to wear them. The optometrist needs to measure your eyes also as everybody has different shaped eyes. For this reason, you cannot buy them off the Internet.
You will also need to go back and have your eyes tested every year to see if your prescription is still the same (strength wise).

Edit: As to the price – I don’t know where you live but in Australia, the eye exam should be covered by Medicare and if you have Private Health Insurance they are usually about $9.00. Without Private insurance they are about $50. This is in Queensland Oz.
