It depends on the type of contacts you get….and also whether or not you have astigmatism. I have a slight astigmatism and they aren’t treating it yet unless it gets worse. I get bi-weekly contacts (throw them away after two weeks) and for a years supply I pay $150. The amount of boxes you need to buy will be determined by which type of contacts you buy….as in daily, weekly, or bi-weekly.

Without insurance a box can be 100 dollars or so. You need a prescription from an eye doctor every two years. It sounds like you don’t know anything about contacts so you need to go to your eye doctor so they can determine the strength of the lenses, determine what kind of lenses you’ll need, and show you how to wear them without scratching or hurting your eyes.
Depending on the lens and how many are in the box, a box of lenses can vary greatly. There are daily lenses, lenses for 2 weeks, lenses for 1 month, or lenses for 3 months. There are also hard lenses that can be worn for a long time. There are places like 1800 contacts where you can buy them, but without a prescription you can get into major trouble. You have to provide an eye doctor and they’ll confirm your prescription with that doctor.
