Did Anyone else Wear Contact Lenses While Pregnant?
Does anyone else attempt to wear contacts while pregnant, and have a hard tI ame with them? I do,it feels like they are burning when I put them in sometI ames, and I just want to know if other women have had the same thing.
I wanted to say thanks for the answers, and I know it’s not an eye infection,I suffer from allergies as well, and that could be causing it too. I was just wondering and i am going to try and change solution, they only burn for a second.

Yes, I’ve worn contacts with all six of my pregnancies (got contacts at 14 years old – so been wearing them a looong time!). Anyway, I didn’t have any problems during pregnancy. However, last year (was not pregnant), after getting new contacts I had constant burning and stinging and it felt like I had something on my contact. I went to the doctor three times. He changed my solution THREE times. I swore it was the contacts, because it happened after I got the new brand.
However, the third solution was the charm – and no problems since. All that burning and stinging was caused by my eyes becoming sensitive to the solutions. The solution I’m using that is working is more expensive, but worth it: Complete (multi-purpose easy rub formula). http://www.nsvc.com/index.htm?http://www.nsvc.com/knowledgecenter/contactlensecare_complete_easy_rub.htm
Certainly talk to your eye doctor to make sure it’s not an infection..
I do, and I haven’t had any problems wearing them, though I do think that my prescription is changing, which is annoying.
I wore them up until a couple of weeks ago then switched to glasses because it was one less step in the morning and evening. I found that my eyes have gotten extremely dry this pregnancy and they just felt like they were really itchy when I tried to wear the contacts. try changing your contact solution and see if that helps.
Yep I wore mine.
If they burn- throw them out and get a new pair.
I also noticed that towards the end of my pregnancy I couldn’t wear them at all – that my prescription had changed.
Good Luck.
i wore them..if ur eyes are burning i wud advise you to get ur eyes checked for any infection and get new contacts.
my eyes felt so dry all the time when i was pregnant. they are fine now though
I’m wearing them now. I don’t think I’ll keep them in during delivery, though, because I don’t think I’ll be in any shape afterward to get to a sink and mirror to wash my hands and take them out. I’ll just wear my glasses.
I haven’t had any issues thus far, I’m 18 weeks.
I quit a while ago b/c my vision kept on getting blurry, which isn’t good. But I went to my eye doctor and got a new prescription. I have them in now!
I wear contacts all the time, I have done since I was 16 and I’m now 21.
The one’s I’ve had for the past year are continuous wear lenses that I keep in for EVERYTHING for 30 days. They’re awesome!
I’ve found today though that they are getting a little irritating on my eyes but I think that’s more due to the fact that I need to change them tomorrow than anything else.
During pregnancy, your eye prescription can change due to increased hormone levels so that’s probably why your lenses are becoming a problem for you.
I;ve had the burning you describe in the past with monthly lenses that I had to take out everyday and it turned out to be the solution and not the lenses that was the problem. Try asking you optician about a different type of solution. My eyes went like that and became irritated because I had started taking a different pill. Same reason as with pregnancy, hormones.
It may be as simple as changing your solution so give it a go and see how you get on.
