Disadvantages of Contact Lenses?
i wanted to buy contact lenses because my eye sight is weak! so i wish some one to guide me please,i have heard that it causes lots of dangerous eye infections ,and that it might crack inside the eye if enough water isn’t drunk by the person who is wearing it,and the 3rd thing that i have heard about is that it might melt inside the eyes and cause permanent blindness,of course this would happen if u were standing inf ront of the fire and its heat would make the lens melt, so please if anyone can clarify these points and tell me whether this is right or no,i would be thankful
))) and if u do know any other disadvantages of contact lenses, please mention them in your answer
))

D: my goodness where did you hear all that?
I’ve had contacts for the past 4 years now. They’re the soft kind, there the ones that most people have although I think some people still have the hard ones. I use monthly ones.
I don’t even notice them in my eyes and I was just told to only wear them for 8 hours a day and to wash them thoroughly before putting them back in their case to avoid infection. And also to give my eyes a break from them one day a week and just wear my glasses. Didn’t hear any of the scary stuff you’ve mentioned!
I’ve never had any problems. I use a non-rub cleaning solution which means I don’t have to do the normal cleaning routine for monthly lenses (rubbing each side to clean it) every night because the solution does all the cleaning for me. If you got dailys then you would just throw them out at the end of the day so the new ones are always fresh and clean! Probably a bit more hygenic really and slightly less hassle but they cost more.
Worst that has ever happened me is I accidently left mine in over night once because I had been drinking that night and just came home and went straight to sleep and the next morning my eyes were a bit red but that was all. I took them out the minute I realised and within a day my eyes had returned to normal. You’d only get a bad infection if you hardly ever cleaned them and wore them irresponsibly.
I don’t think your water intake has any real effect. The only time I notice a bit of a problem is if I’m tired and I’ve had them in all day (which I technically shouldn’t have done anyway) because your eyes become dryer when you’re tired so it causes the lenses to stick slightly and can make your eyes go a bit bloodshot if you don’t sort it out! I just switch to my glasses in the evenings usually.
Never heard of them melting :/ maybe if you stood really near heat with your eyes open! But I think your eyes would begin to burn first!
Anyway if you go to ask for them you will be told if you are a suitable candidate (not everyone is able to wear contacts, my mum wasn’t, but they’ll test your eyes to check anyway). If you do get them then you’ll be told how to look after the contacts and your eyes. If you follow those guidelines then you’ll have no problems. Hope it works out for you!
It is possible that initially some people might have problem in wearing the contacts but after some time they get used to them and wear them with much of ease and comfort. Whenever a person buys anything new, he is expected to take safety measures to keep that thing in a good and smooth condition. Similarly, the contact lens users have to take care of their lenses in order to avoid any ill effects to their eyes.
Also one must have knowledge about the proper use of contact lens and should follow the doctor’s directions for the purpose. Contact lenses are absolutely safe for correcting vision disorders or for changing the color of your eyes unless the following symptoms are not in view:
A) Pain in the eye
B) Redness of the eye for more than two days
C) A blurry vision
D) Scratchiness in the eye
These symptoms suggest an immediate consultation with the doctor to avoid any serious complications. Also, for the safety of your contact lenses and your eyes, you must follow certain safety tips recommended by your doctor and must know how to wear them perfectly and comfortably.
Glasses are safer. Contacts cause so many eye issues. You will thank yourself later for going with a stylish pair of frames. It’s the hip thing nowadays.
