Do I Need to Get a Contact Lens Fitting if I Got One at Another Doctor About 3 Years Ago?
Hi, I understand I need to get a new prescription before I buy more contacts, but do I need to have them give me a contact fitting again or can I get that information from somewhere and give it to them? I mean, the shape of my eye doesn’t change does it (I’m 26 and my eye sight hasn’t even changed in about 7 years)? Is this possible?

Bad news for you…I have been wearing contacts/glasses for over 25 years and EVERY year I have to have the contact fitting exam. I would ask your Dr. when you call to schedule your appointment, you never know they may waive the fee! Good luck.
All the doctors I know require a contact lens exam every year and an eyeglass exam every two years. So the answer is no you need to have your eyes reexamined. You may be right that your eyesight has not changed but until the doctor does an eye exam there is no way of knowing for sure. I do not think any doctor would risk being liable by refilling your contact prescription without checking your eyes first.
Three years? Probably…I know of no eye doctor who will take a prescription over two years old. Most won’t take one over a year old.
