      yes, because not all eyeballs are the right shape to accept the contact lenses. You may not be able to tolerate them.

      no you don’t,they have a machine to read the prescription on the glasses and can make your contacts from that.

      yeah, because you have to get the curve on your eye correct! also, they need to check if your eyes will be okay with contacts

      Yes, you need to see your eye Dr. He or she will fit a prescription for your eyes. Also, someone will sit down with you and let you try on a trial pair. I recently tried to switch and my eyes are too small for contacts. I had a lot of trouble. However, if you want to you can try them for 7-10 days to see if you like them and if they fit comfortably. Try driving during the day and night hours to see if they work for you. Also, try leaving them in for as long as you would wear your glasses. If you do decide to get contacts, you should keep your glasses for when the contacts irritate your eyes because this generally will happen sometimes. I hope it works out for you. Why do you want to switch? I found glasses to be the best thing for me.
