Does It Really Take Longer to Get the Prescription Right for Contact Lenses Than It Does for Eyeglasses?
I’ve been trying to wear contacts for a week or so and my sight doesn’t seem as sharp as with my eyeglasses. This is my second pair of contact lenses for testing my eyesight.

I’ve been wearing contacts for about 4 years now. I find them to be wat better than eyeglasses, for focus and clarity. I have not had any problems with prescription issues. When I go in for the eye exam, I read the chart am tested by the machine and given my prescription. Never had a problem. Perhaps your eye doctor is not very thorough in your eye exam.
Happened to me, too. It’s because with contacts they must fit your eyeball properly to correct your vision accurately. This is especially difficult if you have astigmatism.
Usually they do an eye exam on you. This shows what perscription you will need. But most of the time they will have them on supply. Unless it is a special order for those with astigmatism that is.
If you have astigmatism, there’s part, maybe all of your problem. Communicate this to your eye Doctor- Toric contact Rx’s can be tricky!
It didn’t with me but I had a contact lens examination and obviously the prescription was right as my vision was good. Much nicer than wearing glasses, especially for driving. Just persevere and you will get the right correction assuming the optician knows what he is doing.
You must have an astigmatic correction which is sometimes difficult to correct with soft lenses. On some people it takes a few tries to get the exact ones that you need since they float on your tear layer & the fit has to be perfect. Sometimes if they are too loose they will tilt more than you need, Keep trying we had one lady that it took us 5 different pairs of contacts before we were able to finalize her prescription.
