Does Not Wearing Your Glasses Make Your Vision Worse?

I’ve read in the past that if you are a person who wears glasses that if you stop wearing them for some amount of time, your vision will get worse. Is this true? Because I often go without my glasses and am getting an eye exam on Monday for contacts.

I think it varies on different people. It might not even matter when it comes down to it. My son got glasses in like 4th grade. But he stopped wearing them, and now he says he doesn’t even need them.

i don’t know if its the glasses that change your eyesight naturally you eyesight will change a lot until it steadies. that can take a few years.

No it’s not true. The status of your eyes is strictly genetic and has nothing to do with whether you wear your glasses or not. If your DNA has preordained that your eyes are going to get worse, wearing glasses can’t stop it. That’s why people who wear glasses still have to have them made stronger over time until they get to a certain age, and then the eyes stabilize.
