Don't Colored Contact Lenses Look Strange in Bright Light, or Occlude Vision in Dark Areas? if Not, Why Not?

If colored contact lenses have a fixed "iris" and can’t adjust the "pupil" diameter like the eye itself does, wouldn’t they:
- Not allow in as much light as a dilated pupil would
and / or
- Create two concentric iris colors in bright light as the natural iris is exposed
I’m especially interested in answers from those with first-hand experience.
