Effects of Wearing Colored Contact Lenses?
I’d like to purchase colored contact lenses for an upcoming costume party. I don’t usually wear contacts, for my vision is perfectly fine, but what effects would wearing colored contact lenses for several hours have on my eyes? I’m talking health wise.

Health wise there shouldn’t be a problem as long as you purchase contacts without prescription. But please make first an appointment at your local optometrist. Usually when you purchase contacts for the first time, your optometrist wants to be sure you can get them in and out properly (and he will not let you leave the store with trial lenses before you are able too). In addition he can give you some advice about wearing them.
When it comes to colors: some lenses with dark color sometimes are used to block light. The percentage of blocked light is called the intensity or darkness of the color. In case the party is at night (or not in very bright sunny conditions), be sure to order lenses with a low intensity or darkness. Otherwise it would be like wearing sunglasses at night.
If I were you I wouldnt do it.
I mean seriously just for a costume party?
No ones gonna notice.
Not worth it.
You should be perfectly fine if it’s only for seven hours. Just remember like everything you have to wash your hands before putting in the contacts and also when taking them out, because bacteria can get into your eyes. Contacts from a respectable optometrist can give you more advice, and give you the information about what sort of contacts you can wear, there are different types they aren’t all the same. They come in hard and soft, breathable etc. I would ring your local optometrist and ask them or even make an appointment. Hope some of this helps.
