Ever Had Any Problems with WalMart Vision Centers?
I am 18 years old and have worn glasses since 3rd grade and contacts since 6th. I had an eye examination today at my local Walmart. I was very surprised by how quickly the Dr said my right eye was fine and then 2 more numbers and he had already diagnosed my left eye and quoted "your left eye has gotten worse so we will bump you up by two strengths." First off, that is the fastest decison I have ever seen and second off, there was a total lack of testing and such. I also have always been given a sample pair for the first month to make sure the changes are correct. I was instructed to go buy some. So naturally being a cheap college student I said "don’t I get a trial pair first to make sure the changes are correct?" the lady said no, we only give those out to people who get a new type. Hmm so I’m guessing they instated this rule within the last month even though they get all of the individual packages FREE for that purpose?! Well I told her that I mentioned to the Dr that I was interested in trying colored lenses. So she took me back into another room and gave me some colors that were just sample lenses used soley for deciding colors. Well I found a color that I liked and took it up to her and told her I was interested in trying those ones. Well she basically laughed and said "WELL, your gonna have to buy 2 boxes since your left eye changed." I’m not sure if she thinks she is funny or what. But come on give me a break. You work at the vision center you are not a optometrist so don’t act like your God or something. So basically I am just wondering if this is typical of walmart and I’m not really sure if I want to order the "NEW" prescription not knowing how they will work out. Any suggestions??

Well, I went to a Walmart Optometrist to find out about getting colored lenses and the lady was very kind and helpful.
But I would suggest a real office rather than one in a Walmart. Its like going to those salons that some Walmarts have. yeah, the space is rented out…but it seems like the quality is lacking.
