First – contact lenses are wonderful and don’t let anyone make you nervous about it. I’ve worn for over 40 years without a single infection.
Do’s – be careful to keep your hands clean when handling , keep all the solutions clean and the case you keep the lenses in.
– If you are suspicious at all about a lens don’t use it – most these days are disposable.
– the optician will show you how to take them in and out but when you are first doing it it will take time
so dont’ do it in a rush or when you are tired until you have got the hang of it. Be patient and relax.
– make sure you get regular checkups with a decent optician.
Do Not’s – wear the lenses longer than is allowed .
– wear the lens if you are getting a lot of discomfort
– sleep in lenses not specifically designed for this purpose.
– try and manage without a set of glasses by overwearing your contacts.
– buy cheap lenses from unknown websites without having an optician fit and perscribe lens.
There are many different types of lenses and the optician who fits them will discuss these with you. Its likely you will be given a type of soft lens and they will be disposable. The solutions you can use depend on the lens. I use a single solution for cleaning /soaking/disinfecting which does make life simpler. I also use eye drops for use iwth contact lenses for when my eyes are dry.
To be honest, I’d advise you NOT to buy contact lens. They can be harmful even you take care of all the cleaning and other various procedures.
I’d been wearing the daily disposable contacts of Freshlook since a two or three months. I never wore hem regularly and took great care with everything. Nothing happened.
However, day before yesterday one of the contacts REALLY itched my eye and I took it out immediately. Since then, my eye has been in extreme pain to the fact that I actually cried.
I visited the eye doctor and he said I have developed some kind of infection or allergy and right now the pain is just excruciating. The foreign body sensation in my eye is killing me.
The doctor has also prescribed me three different eye drops.
I took great care with my lens. I researched on various websites, watched YouTube videos and even purchased the daily disposables since I’ve heard that they are the easiest and safest way to wear contacts but still I got this horrible allergic reaction or whatever. I’m waiting for my eye to heal .
So, I’d recommend you to stick with glasses.
Well, there is a lot there. The biggest thing is making sure you clean and disinfect them properly and that you Always take them out at night to allow oxygen to reach your cornea – Every Night. But anything further than that, you can go to my favorite site "All About Vision". Here is a link to their contact lens section that will be very helpful to you – http://www.allaboutvision.com/contacts/
Hope this helps
This is not really something to demonstrate over the internet. Go back to your optician.
