Question by : can contact lens transmit bacterias into your eyes?
I noticed that if I stare at one spot especially on my computer(more clearly), I can see a weired shape moving along with my right eye. If I squeeze my eyes it changes shape and locations on my right eye. I have try to rinse off with water but it still there. Could this be caused by wearing days old contact lens.

Best answer:

Answer by bandcamp
sounds like you might have a floater, which is inside your eye. is it still there when you take your contacts out?

and yes, if your lenses are not sterile they can infect your eye.

Answer by Ritz
change ur contacts.

Answer by r_wadhwa
1)Do not worry. This not infection or bacteria.
2) Do not change your optical correction/ contact lens
3) These are “floaters”
4) They are normal occurrence most often. Sometimes, these are abnormal due to changes in vitreous (jelly inside the eye) or in retina (innermost screen of the eye).
5) Just get your “fundus” checked by an eye-doctor
6) Floaters most often go away on their own
All the best.

Question by twiztedweb: Can an optician make a pair of glasses by using a contact lens prescription?
I have my contact lens prescription, which gives a bunch of measurements like sphere,cylinder,axis..eye size, depth,E.D.,DBL,.. but I want a pair of glasses.
Can I take this prescription to a optical store and get them to make a pair of glasses?

Best answer:

Answer by requiredid
I don’t think so. The prescription strength for my contacts differs from my glasses. Also, my lenses don’t correct my astigmatism (they’re not toric), but my glasses do.

Even if they could match up the prescription, though, I’d get my eyes checked anyway. Just to make sure nothing has changed and everything is still good. That way you know your glasses will suit you perfectly, too. Besides, my eyes are pretty much the last thing I’d like to mess up and not being able to see irritates the life out of me.

I get my eyes checked every six months. It only takes a second and it doesn’t hurt.

Answer by lisa l
No they cannot, but the shop that checked you for your contact lenses will absolutely have your glasses prescription on file too, just call

Answer by drpepper
No, a contact rx is to fit directly on your eye., where a glasses rx is not. There are 2 types of exams. A contact lens exam to get measurments of yor eye (sphere etc.) and a glasses examl to give you the lens shape. Hope this helps

Question by The Hawk: How to know if contact lens is expired?
I m using a powered Jonson n johnson soft contact lens and I bought a box of 3 pairs, the optician told me one pair is good for one month hence the box is good for 3 months and after one month I should change to another pair but how would I know that its time to change as it doesnt make any difference to me even after completing one month with same pair.

Best answer:

Answer by Stardust
I use Acuvue 2 and for me they usually turn hard and are uncomfortable to wear. It’s also harder to get them out and my vision isn’t very clear.

Maybe you should change them after a month even though they feel the same…just to be on the safe side.

Answer by Finvardr
If you rip your lense, it expires. If they turn yellow, they are expired. If they are uncomfortable, they are expired. I wear disposeable lenses also and I change mine whenever they become uncomfortable. I usually get about 2 months out of each set of lenses before they start drying out on me too much.

Question by wildboyz_211: Does a stye feel like a contact lens is stuck in your eyelid?
I put my contact lenses in this morning and realized afterward my eyes were irritated a little bit. The rest of the day was fine. When i took my contact lenses out at night it felt like a piece broke off and got stuck behind my eyelid, i looked and looked for it but found nothing, i did notice a little bump under my eyelid, around the same spot it feels like my “contact lens” is stuck, could that be a stye?

Best answer:

Answer by ADG
It could be a stye or a piece of your contact lens, or both…
Pop into your local optom asap, that way if it is contact lens, they can get it out before it scratches anything… and your eye will feel way more comfortable as well.

Good luck

Answer by ?
A stye is usually right on your eyelid and visible. So it doesn’t really sound like a stye. There are a couple of other possibilities, including a corneal ulcer, which is not uncommon in people who wear contacts, and of course, there is the possibility of pink eye.

Have a look at these sites and they may be of help.

Question by Kawaii: How to convince my mom to get me contact lens?
I heard my friend said that a year supply is like 30 something dollars but I’m not sure. So is it actually better than glasses or not? Is it dangerous to wear contact lens? or like can I buy just one pair of contacts just to see what happened and maybe to show to my mom I can take care of them?

Best answer:

Answer by One_Go
I’m almost in the same situation. Except I need contact lenses because if I play tennis in glasses I can’t serve properly. Try to explain to your mom that contact lenses are better because with them any where you look will be clear, unlike glasses where if you look above the frame you can’t see clearly. This worked for me and my parents are getting me contacts in January.

Answer by Emmie™
I’ve been wearing contacts since i was in 6th grade. (im in highschool now) its not dangerous at all to wear contacts unless you rub your eyes alot then the contact could get stuck somewhere. you can even go to walmart and they have a vision center and you can get a trial pair of contacts to see how you like them. i prefer my contacts because glasses get in the way. a year suppy would most likely be more than $ 30. the workers at the vision center will teach you all about how to take care of them and how to put them in. in a week you will be putting them in like a pro.

Answer by R S

Today just about everyone can wear contact lenses, and there are more healthful and convenient contact lens options than ever before. Contact lenses are used to correct the same conditions that eyeglasses correct.
Question by harlee21: What causes blurred vision after taking out my monovision contact lens?
I have been wearing one contact lens for 4 months. I believe it is a bifocal lens. I see great for reading and adjusted to the one lens, my problem is when i get home from work, take the lens out. Everything is blurry in that eye. I cant see the computer, i cant see the TV. Whether Im looking at something up close or far away. I worried Im ruining my eyesight in that eye by just wearing one contact. Please let me know if anyone has any of these same symptoms w/ monovision contacts, hopefully I’m not crazy!!
Thanks

Answer by r_wadhwa
You do not have to worry:
1) If your contact lens fitting is OK, you do not have to worry.
Bad fit can mean:a) colored haloes around light in evening b)painful while wearing or after removal

2) If fit is OK, you are only feeling a “reorientation of your focusing system”

3) You may take to spectacles after removal of the contact lens and that will speed up the reorientation on removal of lenses

Answer by sanki
Using contact lenses, involves some amount of risk, since the amount of oxygen available to the cornea is reduced. So if you are feeling uncomfortable wearing the lenses, contact a doctor immediately.More details and information at http://eye-care.in/contactlens.html

Question by ras0682: Why does my right contact lens keep shifting out of place, but not the left one?
I currently wear Acuvue Advanced for Astigmatism contact lenses and for the most part have had success. The problem I have always seems to be with my right eye. Sometimes the lens gets out of focus and I can never get it to refocus properly. I have never had any issues with my left eye. I don’t know why this is happening. If their both my eyeballs and same brand contact lenses, what could be causing the one to shift out of focus and what can be done about so I can see out of my right eye properly?

Best answer:

Answer by eyeknow
You may need a different lens in the right eye. There are several numerical components to contact lenses with astigmatism: 1. correction for your near or farsightedness, 2. correction for your astigmatism, and 3. the number that helps to align the astigmatism correction. It is very important that this last component is correct, otherwise you can experience lenses that are not providing comfortable vision.

Sometimes switching brands may help too. Contact lenses are like shoe brands in that they each fit a little bit differently, even if the “size” is the same. Please visit your eye doctor so that you can find the best lenses for you!

Answer by babyface
Okay, I have had the same problem before and the reason being is because i had them inside out or i didn’t have enough drops in that one eye. If it reoccurs you should look with a doctor to see if one eye is different than the other.

Answer by shortie
I t appears there is a different in size of the ball of your eyes. I would try different size len on the eye that keep shifting.

Question by rawr: There is a small reddish spot on my disposable contact lens and I can’t remove it. What could it be?
I noticed it when I took the contact out of my eye. I tried to wash and rub it off but it won’t come off. Could it be blood? I don’t think I scratched my eye because it doesn’t hurt and my eye looks fine. What could this spot be? And should I throw out the lens and replace it?

Best answer:

Answer by grizzly
you must remove and get new ones because your eyes would get messed up if you don’t change them immediately.

Answer by Mike
Something probably fell in your eye and got stuck to the outside of the lens… it might be a piece of metal or rock since its stuck inside, and it also means its fairly sharp
on the up side the lens protected your eye
on the downside you need a new lens, since if you keep wearing this one it might push the piece through and scratch up your eye

so get a new lens, they’re cheaper than eyes
