Contact lens prescriptions often differ from glasses prescriptions. You cannot just use a glasses RX and expect it to be correct in power, cylinder or axis. You also need to know what base curve is right for you. On top of all that, the law requires you to have a separate contact lens prescription in order to purchase contacts.

If cost is an issue, there are other eye doctors who may charge less for a fitting. Prices in my city range from $60 to over $200 for an exam that consists of your health checkup, your glasses RX and your contact lens fitting/RX. Shop around and you may find something more affordable.

you have to have a base curve. you cant just guess. wrong BC could have serious potential problem…way more problems than just "uncomfortable". yes, a contact lens fitting costs more money, agreed. can’t go without it tho.

even if you guessed correctly on the BC, your seller will just get denied when they try to verify your Rx with your doc. it irritates the doc as well. just go get fitted

If you are getting Accuvue, your new prescription is fine. If you are getting lenses that do not have cylindrical correction for you astigmatism, use:
    OD -2.25
    OS -2.00

You will need the back curve, which will be 8.4 for accuvue or 8.8 for others.

You must have a separate prescription for contacts. Don/t play games with your eye sight. The shape and size of your eyeball can vary over time. The wrong lens can damage your eye.
