Glasses and Contacts Different Vision Power?
i just got glasses not too long ago (about 3 months) and moved since then.
now i live in alabama and i recently went to the opt. to get contacts and he did another eye exam and prescribed me contacts.
but today i found out that my glasses prescription is -1.00 left and right
and my contacts prescription is -.75 left and right
its that possible to have two different ones
i have noticed that i see clearer with my glasses but i dont know if its just all in my head.

Often times, your contact lens prescription is a little weaker than your eyeglass prescription just because the glasses sit in front of the eye, rather than directly on it, so they need to be slightly stronger. Also, many people actually have at least some astigmatism that their glasses have and their contacts do not and if that’s the case, then sometimes they will see better out of their glasses. And still, there are some people who have the exact same Rx for both contacts and glasses.
the glasses are a little stronger power but not much. contacts are usually less because the are closer to the eye.
A contact lens prescription should only need to be modified because of the vertex distance if the prescription is over 4.00. Any power under 4.00 does not require an adjustment for vertex distance. So, the chances are good that the reason you see better with your glasses is simply because the -1.00 is a more appropriate prescription. It sounds like the -.75 is slightly undercorrecting your vision, therefore your distance vision is a little more blurry with the -.75. I would recommend calling your doctor and explaining this to him. He will probably recommend a change in your contact lens prescription. Hope this helped.
Oh. And as to your first answer. He is right. I can’t tell you what country the United States of America is in because it is not in any country. It IS a country. Not trying to be egostical but doctors of optometry didn’t get to be doctors by being stupid. It takes years of study and effort to achieve the title "doctor of optometry". What he said was offensive and has no basis in fact.
They do`nt check eyes like they did in the old days. Now it is almost as fast as ordering at the drive-through.I would be very surprised if the people doing the exams could tell you what country the United States of America is in.
Yes – remember that the lens that is in your glasses sits further away from your eye, verses the contact lens sits directly on your eye (cornea). More strength is needed for the difference in distance. Also – the contact lens flattens you eye (cornea) making it easier for the refraction of light to get to the retina.
