Before you put them in, hold them up and look for a rounded, "bowl" shape that gently curves. This is how they look when they are correct. If they are incorrect, they will have a more "V" shape. The edges will seem to kind of go straight out like a V. It’s really hard to describe without being there to actually show you.

Regardless, if the lens is in wrong, you should have some discomfort. They won’t necessarily hurt, but won’t really be comfortable either.

Because toric lenses are weighted, they will naturally float and spin a bit in your eye. The weight is there to keep your astigmatism correction lined up on the correct axis. When you blink, your eyelids will gently rub against the contacts and cause them to move a little. When the move enough off the correct axis, your vision won’t seem as clear. Usually if you just blink again they will straighten out. This is perfectly normal for toric lenses.

If your vision never seems "that clear" you may need to have your Optometrist/Ophthalmologist re-check your prescription. Toric lenses are harder to get an accurate prescription and it isn’t uncommon for the doctor to make several changes before deciding on the ones that will give you the best vision.
