Your eye glass prescription and your contact prescription are not the same. You need to have another exam to get an actual contact prescription, as the contact provider has to verify it with your doctor. Contacts work more like a medication prescription than an eye glasses prescription – You have an exam, they take measurements and your doctor prescribes a specific strength, type, and brand of contact for you. You get exactly and only what they prescribe, but you do get a say in what that might be.
You don’t. You get a new eye exam, that is for glasses. You can of course get your eyes tested for both glasses and contacts. But the two prescriptions will be different. Different numbers meaning different things. In contacts you will have to be "fitted" for the shape of your cornea, something you can’t figure out from an eye glass prescription.
It is not a good idea to use your contact prescription to order glasses. Sometimes they are the same, but very often they are not! This is because contacts sit right on the eye wheras glasses are spaced away from the eye. Also, if you have astigmatism, they may deal with it differently for contacts than glasses. If you go to the place where you got the eye exam for your contacts, they might be able to find out what what your prescription would be for glasses from the original eye test results, but no guarantee.
