How Do I Get Colored Contacts?

I want to get colored contacts (hazel or green?) for my bday in December. I’m just wondering what the whole process is for getting non-prescription colored contacts. I want to go to the doctor too so my contacts fit right. And also, what would be the total cost to get contacts (including the doctor.) Thanks 
And when you go to the doctor, are you able to try different colors before choosing? And how easy is it to get a new color/new contacts after you’ve already got your first?
