How Do You "hand Paint" A Custom Contact Lens?

I already know where yoyou can buy them, that’s not my question so please don’t get off on a tangent. I only want answers that will help me to get into making cool new styles. The websites selling Halloween lenses say "process takes a week, contacts are hand painted". I want to do that!
I know "special FX guys" do it for the movies so I don’t think you need to be an eye doctor. Also, please tell me the basis of your information rather than just some opinion saying "oh yoyou can’t do that it’s not safe". I want to learn but opinions without facts don’t tell me anything. Thank you.

You cannot do this at home by yourself. The types of pigments used on contact lenses cannot be brought from some shop. It is a clinical procedure as all the lenses need to be safe to be put into eyes

Edit: In the movies, they are not done by "special FX guys". They just simply design the lenses and then ask clinical technicians to make the lenses for them. The color needs to be incorporated into the lens material – it is not just added onto the top by an unskilled person. It involves the use of specialised machinery as there needs to be another coating on top of the pigment to maintain the pattern. These are all facts – and not opinions!

The special FX guys don’t do it for movies. There are specialty contact lens makers who supply them with lenses they need.

Even though they say " hand painted " I doubt that very much.

What they do is hand paint the design required, but then some process is uses to stamp that design onto the lens after. It isn’t actually painted onto the lenses.

There must be some very specialized equipment involved in that , plus being able to get the right kind of pigments to use that won’t interfere with the material of the lenses or cause any health problems.

Guaranteed, it isn’t something that can be done at home.
