How Do You Know When to Change Your Contact Lenses?

btw If I don’t wear my contact lenses and leave them in cases for awhile…like 2 or 3 days or maybe a week or even a month…do I still have to change the eye solution everyday?

You change it when it irritates your eyes. Some common reasons are small little tears at the edges of the lenses or a permanent dent or bends on the contacts itself. You can wear a well taken cared pair for months. Ignore the manufacturers 2 week change rule, it is unnecessary and my eye doctor told me.

If you leave it in the manufacture’s sealed case/ unopened, you can store it all the way until the expiration date. If you used them and decided to store them for a long period of time, I think you would still be safe and not have to worry much. Just make sure you wash your hands before cleaning the contacts so you won’t "store" anything else with the contacts.

you wear your contacts for 1 day, then you throw them out and buy new ones, you cant reuse them!

no. depending on what solution u use, for example i use alcon. it says i can keep them in the case for 30 days until i have to change solution.

i change mines when it starts to bug me!

You don’t have to change the solution everyday. Only the days you use them really.

As for when to change them, different contacts suggest different amounts of time. Mine are only supposed to be worn for two weeks, but I wear them until they’re uncomfortable or they fall apart!

yes, you still should change the contact solution every day. because just the act of opening the case up and putting your lenses in the case opens the case up to bacteria. then when the case is just sitting there for days or weeks or months, bacteria still grows.

changing your contacts depends on however they’re intended to last. some contacts are designed to be changed daily, some every 2 weeks, and some every 2-3 months. mine are the 2-3 month kind and i change them when they start to make my eyes really dry and it constantly feels like there’s something in my eyes.

maybe change the solution at least every 2 weeks. If u have them in there for months and the solution hasnt dried up on its own, take them out and clean them before putting them on. And when they start getting dried frequently when you wear them or the vision isnt as sharp then it might be time to replace them.

    hello,
1 Contact lenses are used for perfect vision (human vision). When your contact lens has a spot on it , or a scratch , or a line , just like glasses, that people wear, it means, its time to change it.
2 The normal time period to change is 12 months.
3 The daily wear lenses should be cleaned on a daily basis with a solution , however , if you have extended wear lenses, u can use them for more then a month , without removing ,and therefore no cleaning is required.
4 Be warned , that this may result in problems with your cornea, therefore it is suggested, that u clean them on a daily basis, for the sake of your own eyes.
