How Do You Wear Contact Lenses? and What Is the Best Way to Remove Them?

I was wondering, I am scared to put in contacts…
What is the best way to put them in and what is the best way to remove them? I’ve seen and searched a lot about it, and I do not know what seemed to be the best technique that will not scratch the cornea…

Putting in contacts is scary and time consuming for about a week but them it becomes as natural as washing your face. First, wash your hands. Second, clean the contact according the the lens solution instructions. Third, put the contact on your index finger, use your middle finger to lower your lower lid. Then, put the contact on your eye, half on the white, half on the iris, try to avoid the pupil. Rub it in a circular motion there for about a second and then blink it in. Voila!

To remove, wash your hand, open up your eye again with your middle finger, and gently press the contact loose from your eye with your index finger and thumb. Your nails shouldn’t get in the way unless they’re exceptionally long. Wash it and put it away. This is actually far easier than putting it in. Good luck. I wore glasses from the ages of 12 to 16, and they’re only fun for so long

i still remember the first time i had to put in contacts in took me like an hour or two! they told me just to open my eyes really big and stick it in but everytime i tried i BLINKED haha but i usually take one hand and raise the top and bottom of my eye so its wide open and then i just put the contact in and blink a few times. the eye doctor gave me a tip and told me to put some solution in your eye before you put your contact in that way it kind of gives the contact something to stick to. also when you take it out you just use your thumb and your index finger and slowly pull it out. cut your nails cause that’s what would scratch your eye and it could also tear/rip your contacts (believe me…i’ve done it) hope this helps!

Well…the first day/time will defiantly be a little uncomfortable and getting use to, but after a few minutes of first inserting them on it’s wonderful. I’ve been wear contacts for 10 years!!! When you’ve been wearing it as long as I have, it just comes naturally as far as in puttin them on and taking them off (you don’t even need a mirror). The only con is that when you get stuff in your eyes it irritating.

When you first get contacts, some places (Stein Opticals for example) make you watch a video first on contact lens care. The consultants there will also help you out and watch you put in and take the lens out.

I can’t really explain how I put mine in, but to take them out, I just pinch the very middle of them and pull them out. Unless you have long fingernails, nothing will be scratched.

Oh, and make sure you always, always wash your hands before putting in/taking out a contact lens.

PS– Don’t switch from contacts to glasses too often unless you have to. The space between the glasses lens and your eyes cause your vision to become worse if you continously switch.
