How Exactly Do You Throw Your Contact Lenses Away?

I think I’ve exceeded the wearing lI amit for my first pair of contacts [last for a month, been wearing it for two months or so], and I’m confused on how to dispose them properly.

Do I put it in the contacts lens case and throw them away in the garbage? Like throw the case AND the lenses with it?

I have had contacts for over 15 years.

Every month (or so) I throw the lenses only in the trash.

Some eye care professionals are recommending to replace your case every 3 months or so.

I usually just rinse the case out with water. I have had the same case for over a year.

Flick them into the trash, they aren’t nuclear waste.

I don’t think there is a special dumpster labeled "contacts recycling" at your dump and I don’t think anybody is collecting old contacts for the needy, so just throw them out. Maybe save the case temporarily, as when you get the new contacts, they might not come with a case and you would have no place to put them (when they aren’t in your eyes that is).

You put them in your regular trash. You do not throw the lense case out. You can wash the case out with hot soapy water and then rinse the case. Every 3 months get a new lense case and throw out the old one.
