How Long Before My Contact Lenses Improve My Astigmatism?

I was prescribed acuvue advanced for toric. The doctor said I was a "perfect candidate" for toric lenses and that the lenses would eventually make my astigmatism go away.
*I mean "acuvue advanced for astigmatism". -sorry

Well, I’d have to say that (hopefully) you misunderstood your eye doc. The toric lenses will correct, but not cure, your astigmastism. It will most likely be with you the rest of your life, or, as a previous answerer said, it will change axis and power slightly when you get older. The only way you’ll make the astigmatism go away is through some type of refractive surgery, ie LASIK or the like.

Really? i have been wearing that for years, and still have astig.

It’s just, just, possible I’m out-of-date, but I can’t think of a single reason why wearing soft toric contact lenses would reduce astigmatism in the future.
Or why a doctor would claim that it would.

"with the rule" (the most common type) astigmatism does, statistically, tend to reduce slowly over 25-65 years of age, but that is totally independent of whether contact lenses are or aren’t worn.

Sounds bogus to me. If they have been correctedly prescribed they should correct it immediately during wear, but only surgery can permanently alter your eyesight.

i have acuvue for astigmatism and they don’t make it go away they just enable you to see better and be able to wear contacts. if you wear regular contacts and have an astigmatism they can go fuzzy easily when you blink.

I think you misunderstood your doctor.
