How Long Can I Use My Contact Lenses?

I use disposable contact lenses – Bausch & Lomb SofLens (polymacon), 38. I’ve been wearing (these) contacts now for almost 4 months. I wear them almost everyday of the week, for about 12-14 hours a day. I don’t sleep with them on and when they’re not in use, I place them in the solution I was given (which I replace everyday). How long should I use each contact before disposing it? And is it a problem if I use a contact lens and within less than a week there is already a small tear at its edge? This has been happening to me several tI ames within the past 3 weeks or so, so I’ve been throwing out a few lately.
I don’t think I’ve ever worn them for longer than a month…probably 3 weeks at the most.

I believe the soflens lenses are for monthly disposable.. which means that they should only be worn for one month – thats the reason you’re getting tearing at the edges!! Its dangerous to wear them for longer than their prescribed date, as you are more prone to eye infections, and, as you say, you can get torn edges. Make sure you ask your optician for how long your lenses can be worn, and stick to the prescribed time – its there for a reason! Don’t risk the health of your eyes!!
Its a montly disposable lens so should be thrown out after 4 weeks of use (unless your optometrist has specified something else). If you are getting tears on the lens I would examine your handling procedure, its possible you are getting your nail or something caught on them at some stage.

That B&L lense is designed for 2-4 week wear time. You’re only hurting yourself by overwearing and can be prone to eye infections. NEVER wear a torn lens- it can do more damage to your eye!
those are a 2 week lens. wear them for 2 weeks and throw them out. if theres a tear throw them out. when you clean your lens rub in a circlular motion not back and forth, thats probably why they are tearing. DO NOT EXCEED 2 WEEKS you can damage your eyes
