they are designed for all day wear. i wear mine from the time i get up until the time i sleep. if you do wear them that long i suggest you get a brand that allows more oxygen in so they won’t dry out. as for the types, daily lenses are designed to be thrown out after a day, weekly lenses after a week, monthly lenses after a month, etc. DO NOT wear them longer than stated for the type that they are. i had a pair that i wore for too long and got a very nasty eye infection and couldn’t wear contacts for awhile. wearing them after thier ‘expiration date’ will cause a big decrease in oxygen and allow bacteria to grow.

It depends, cause there are some lenses that can be worn over night. But i dont like those cause the eye needs to rest. I suggest dailies. take them out at night and let the eyes rest.

My eye doctor told me not to wear my contacts any longer than 16 hours a day.

This depends on the individual tolerance and the type of contact purchased.

All types of contact lenses reduce the amount of oxygen that reaches your cornea — the clear tissue that lies over the pupil and iris. For most people, the reduction isn’t significant enough to harm the cornea, but corneal changes and infections still sometimes occur. Infections, in particular, are more common in people who sleep with their contact lenses in place.
