Contact Lens City

Ive been wearing contact lenses since i was 13, im now almost 23. This whole time ive worn Soflens 38, except for once a year ago when the dr gave me acuvue 2 and i tried it for a week and decided i didnt like them. I think it was becuase my eyes werent used to them, but I didnt have the patience to let them get used to it.So i went back to Soflens 38. Recently, my eyes have gotten really bad and though i thought i needed a stronger prescription(it was -8), the dr said that its not much of a change and that the real problem is my eyes are severely dry. She did raise my prescription to a -8.5, but she gave me a trial pair of Cibavision O2 Optix, which is supposed to alllow more oxygen into my eye. Ive been wearing them all day, and though at first my vision was slightly better, now its getting blurry becuase of the eye dryness and my eyes have been irritated all day too. How much time is normal before my eyes are adjusted to the new brand and I know if I should stick with them or not? I am really tempted to jsut ask for Soflens in the higher prescription, but I want to wear the best possible lens for my dry eyes. Please let me knowif it is normal to experience irritation when first switching contact brands and how long i should wear them for before deciding which brand to go with. Thanks
