How Much Does a Contact Lens Fitting Cost, and What Is the Normal Procedure When You Go?

I do a lot of costume-making and reenactment, and I was curious on the price of a contact lens fitting? I have perfectly fine eyes, and no vision problems so to speak, I sI amply want non-powered lenses for color enhancing/color changing. What is the normal procedure of a contact lens fitting, and what do I need to go through to make it so I can legally order contacts online? I hear most online places need a prescription – is that "included" in the contacts fitting, or do you actually need to order a contacts lens prescription separate? I’m new to all this, as I’ve never had any vision problems so no real need to go get an eye exam, but I’d like to be able to order online for convenience in the future. I plan to go to Pearle Vision, if it helps any.

Prices will vary widely depending on where you live and who you go see. You can call different offices and ask for a price quote. When you have a fitting, you will first have an exam and then the doctor will determine what/if any prescription you may need in the contact lenses. You should be taught how to insert/remove/clean/care for/and store your contact lenses. Some offices will have you return for a follow-up before they give you your contact lens rx or you may be given the rx at that first visit. Then you will be able to safely and legally order contact lenses…which you can do through them or through any other place/site.
