How Old Do You Have to Be to Be Able to Wear Contact Lenses?
Im 15 and have bad eyesight, I don’t like wearing my glasses and I believe that next time I go to the opticians I will have to wear them constantly. :’( I don’t want to and I know they will help me but I want to try contact lenses. Do you know how old you have to be to be able to wear contact lenses and what prescription results do you have to recieve, if any?

Hello,
There are no age restrictions for contacts, but the decision to wear contacts is influenced by a variety of factors, including specific vision needs. Since contacts are a medical device, you will need a prescription to order them. We recommend that you visit your eye care provider and discuss your concerns and vision needs together.

That’s right there is no minimum age for wearing contact lenses for children. The youngest child wearing iGO overnight lenses is 6! Many parents don’t realise that children can wear contact lenses and actually get on with them very well. The most importa t thing is that you are motivated and can handleputtingg them in and taking them out. iGO overnight vision correction contact lenses have two further benefit – you only wear them while sleeping and they stop your eyesight from getting worse. All this was covered in the Mail on Sunday on the 22 May see the links below. Hope this helps.
I don’t think there is any set age for wearing contact lenses, it will just depend on whether your optician thinks you are suitable for them or not, so go ask.
Usually, as contact lenses are seen more as a luxury than a necessity, you will probably have to pay for them, which depending on which type you get, won’t be too expensive. I wear daily disposables, and get mine from a website, daysoft.com, for £10 per month, which is very cheap.
I started wearing mine when I was 16, so you should be able to get some, just go ask your optician.
