I Wear Air Optix for Astigmatism Contact Lenses. Would It Be Possible for Me to Wear Regular Contacts?

Regular contacts rather than ones for astigmatism, I mean?

My prescription is:

Right eye:
Sphere: -5.75, Cylinder: -75, Axis: 150, Base Curve: 87.

Left eye:
Sphere: -6.00, Cylinder: -75, Axis: 10, Base Curve: 87.
Also, would my contacts be cheaper if I have insurance? How much cheaper?

That is your contact prescription we see , so your astigmatism may be stronger than what we see there in your actual glasses Rx.

You may have -1.00 or even -1.25 in your glasses correction, so that would be too much in most cases not to be corrected by contacts. It was probably dropped to the – 0.75 in the contacts on purpose.

You could always ask the Dr. for spherical equivalent trial lenses so you can see for yourself if non-toric lenses would work for you.

If your actual astigmatism is only -0.75 , then it should work.

No you wont be able to wear regular contacts. I know this because i also have astigmatism and the doctors say that these air optics are the only contacts that function well with our eyes. Regular contacts would just irritate and dry out our eyes.

    Dear Kel

I don’t think that it will be a good idea to switch to the regular contact lenses as you mentioned earlier that you have astigmatism.
What I will suggest is that you may check if there is any other brand which is cheaper than the one you are using and still offers you’re the astigmatism contact lenses.
    Good luck
