"I Wear Only One Contact Lens at a Time in My Eyes – My Friend Says Its Perfectly Safe to Do This.Is It True?

I got into the habit of wearing only one contact in my eye – to save money on buying contacts (basically cuts my contact lens costs in half). Every month I would take one contact out of one eye and place a new contact in the other eye. My friend told me that this is perfectly fine to do. He says its sI amilar to folks who have different contact lens strengths in different eyes (one for seeing far away and other for reading things up close). Is it really safe to do? My eyes have adjusted quite well to this although when you block the eye with the contact lens, the world does get blurry :o ) Any thoughts or folks who do things sI amilar???

You will not harm your eyes by doing this. Having good vision in one eye at a time may reduce your depth perception and make you a less safe driver. Most people would not do this to save a few bucks.

Its fine. My mom does that since her left eye is 20/20, but her right is not as good.

Everything is perfectly fine by doing that. But remember your other eye can get eye strain for not wearing a contact lense at all.

    damage? probably not

good idea? so you want to save maybe…. 100 bucks max just to see out of one eye? You lose depth perception with one eye.

some older people do this because they are presbyopes and are using monocular vision.

I tried wearing only a single lens. It felt weird and I got headaches afterwards.
