If You Have an Astigmatism in One Eye Will Glasses Help the Eye ?

I am short sighted in my right eye and have a slight astigmatism in my left.

I got glasses and the lense for the astigmatism was awful and I found it really hard to focus with it in.. (I’m not sure if this is normal). Only after wearing my glasses a lot it now feels as though when I take them off my left eye is clearer and more focused than before I got glasses.

Do lenses help eye’s with astigmatism at all ?

The glasses should be very clear in both eyes.
The adjustment for the astigmatism should be for your left eye.
Go back and tell them the glasses are not correcting your vision and do not let them fool you.

Lenses should help the astigmatism. I too have an astigmatism in one eye. I can see perfectly through my glasses(or contacts) but i am basically blind without them. You should make an appointment with your eye doctor to discuss this problem.

I have an astigmatism in my right eye as well and yes in my opinion I think glasses does work but ask your eye doctor and see what he/she has to say. I don’t wear my glasses neither. At first they didn’t detect it until I went to another eye doctor. Maybe you should think about wearing contacts they have those as well.

sure they help, astigmatism is caused by an irregularly shaped cornea. If you have only a small amount of astigmatism, you may not notice it or have just slightly blurred vision. But sometimes uncorrected astigmatism can give you headaches or eyestrain, and distort or blur your vision at all distances. I had it when i was young and then the laser surgery corrected it.

yup it does, but smtyms when you’re young u dont really need it ryt away.. and also when u get ur glasses, ur doctor willl know what the grade of lens u need for both eyes.. there are also tyms when the lenses in both eyes dont have the same grade…

What you are describing is exactly opposite of what should happen. When you wear the glasses your sight should clear up and when you take them off things will be more blurry. It does take a few days to get used to a new prescription lens, but you might want to go back to your optometrist and have the lens checked out.

Yes the glasses will help. It does not correct it & it should not be pulling your eye out of focuse. Go back to the eye doc a let them know.

no. the glasses dont do anything for your eye or for your astigmatism.

    glasses on = see better

    glasses off = see worse

for anyone over the age of *8*…thats it.
