If You Have Astigmatism, Do You Have to Have Special Contacts?
My doctor prescribed toric lenses and they are very uncomfortable. Can she give me a regular pair of lenses, even though I have astigmatism?

THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT TORIC LENSES, DIFFERENT MATERIALS, BASE CURVES & DIAMETERS……….ONLY AN EYE DR COULD "RECOMMEND" & FIT YOU INTO A DIFFERENT PRESCRIBED LENS ……..DR WILL KNOW WHATS BEST FOR UR EYES….TALK TO HER ABOUT IT………. IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET CTLS THAT ARENT TORIC, BUT IT DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH ASTIGAMATISM YOU HAVE & YOU WONT HAVE THE MOST CLARITY, CRISP CLEAR VISION………….
sure, but it wont give you the vision that you need. ask for a different toric lens. i recommend purevision toric by b&l.
Sorry, but you definitely need toric lenses. I have them, too, and I’m still going through trial pairs with my eye doctor to figure out which size and brand are right for me. Because our eyes are so different, it usually takes longer to fit us with contacts than other people, but it’s the only way we can see properly, since toric lenses are weighted so that they remain in one position, while regular contacts move around on the eye. I suggest going to your eye doctor and telling her these contacts are uncomfortable. She can try different things on you, all made for astigmatism, that might work better than what you have now.
I have a bad astigmatism and recently started wearing contact lenses. I’m only fourteen so it was qujte hard to adjust. I have normal soft, nice, comfortable ones, but they are especially for astigmatism. They are the only brand I could have, as I have a very complex and bad prescription, and I hated wearing the hard lenses. X
