Is an Eyeglass Prescription Power the Same As a Contact Lenses Prescription Power?

I just discovered that an eyeglass prescription is not the same as a contact lenses one. I want to get special effect contacts and all I need is the power. Is the power still the same though?

Contact lenses are usually not exactly the same as an eyeglass prescription because the lens is physically sitting on the eye instead of just in front of it. You will have to get a contact lens fitting to know the exact power lens you need.
